Ok... it’s time to get serious about TWO certitudes regarding 49ers QBs

Just image if the 49ers used the 1.3 for Pat Mahomes instead of Solomon Thomas in the 2017 draft. Could of/ should of/ would have I guess. Always wondered why they didn't go QB with that pick.

What many don't remember about Mahomes, is that he was actually projected as a 2nd round "project with huge upside" type of a QB throughout most of the process leading up to the draft. Towards the final few weeks, there were whispers of him potentially moving up into the 1st round. However, when KC moved up to take him in the mid-first round and gave up the following year's first to do so. THAT was actually considered a giant leap of faith and a reach by many.

Mahomes was never in the mix as a top 5 pick. "Revisionist" football historians typically either ignore this or don't remember it. At #3 that was simply never going to happen. He wasn't this "slam dunk" QB prospect. What's more... that QB class was touted as being the "weakest" that the league had seen in a while. It's only now with Mahomes smashing success and all three 1st round QB's making the pro bowl (and post-season) in 2018 that it has become such a hot topic of discussion.

Well it is this upcoming season to see what Jimmy is, unless ofcourse he hurt before the season kicks off.

Did you read this thread at all? I'm probably the most realistic person here about Jimmy. I expect a mediocre (decent at best) season from him, but I think he'll come on stronger towards the end of the year.

That comment was 100% percent correct, it's correct if the season is 4 months away or 1 day away.

I think there is nothing certain about Jimmy G other than he is getting a boatload of cash and hasn't played enough or shown enough to make any assessment. 2019 is the make or break year for him and the Niners, imo. If he struggles or heaven forbid, suffers another major injury, the team will have to think about moving on and eat that hit. Could cost Lynch his job. I think they way overpaid for him based on a smaĺl sample size and I'm not alone in that thought. However, I won't go so far as to say Dak is better. But he does stay on the field.

No I didn't read it wrong. This season is the time to see what happens in regards to Jimmy G.
