the Pirates need to darn well start winning some games against the Brewers!!
as a fan, I am sick of all this .500 talk!! Pirates draft too many kids out of high school!

You might want to check your rear view mirror because it's full of Redlegs trying to get out of the basement. On top of that you're heading to Atlanta to play a hot Braves team.

At some point the Cardinals have to fire their GM. Moz has done the Jeff Fisher thing for a bit too long

Cards need to stop supplying fading players 30+, extensions without reason...

Team is below 500...again. Horrible managing and team construction

Goldy was a horrible trade since this didn't fill a position of need, and he's floundering...Team can't pitch on the road or against lefties (3 SP's combined for 12 innings vs Scrubs). No lefty starter...pathetic

I still don't mind the Goldy trade because their lineup really sucks but the team construction as a whole is pretty embarrassing. There were signs that they needed to rebuild or blow something up for the past 2 years or so but Mo has been trying to add patches every year. Fowler was an embarrassing waste of money and they gave up on Holland too soon.

Recent run totals from the past week or so: 2, 1, 3, 1, 4, 1. They're lucky to have any wins in that stretch.

The Goldy trade was a good one. But that is about the only good move he has made in the last few years.

Cards had an MVP candidate 1B...who turns into a pumpkin when playing 3b. 1b wasn't a need. A MOTO bat, LH, who plays the OF was the play. Or a power LH bat in general...

Swing and miss. Now they have to pay Goldy (27 RBI's...27!!!!) thru 2024 at $26/year. UGGG. Outside of playing the Brewers, dude has been a huge bust

You think the Fowler contract has them hamstrung...

The Goldy trade was a good one. But that is about the only good move he has made in the last few years.

For the most part the Cardinals have lived and died with home grown talent rising through their minor league system over the years but in today's game I think we need a GM who is willing to think out of the box more and take a few more chances with trades and free agency since our main competition, the Cubs and Brewers, have succeeded big time at playing this game. The Goldy trade was a good trade so that's a start. He shows up for work everyday, plays solid defense, and his hitting will come back alive at some point. Right now we are missing Molina badly but hopefully he will be back soon. Our starting pitching is killing us and we are just not getting timely hitting or much hitting at all for that matter. I do hope that Mo will make some key moves before the trading deadline but looking at his history I doubt he will.

I'm torn on the trade deadline. i feel like we are a couple pitchers and a hitter away from being competitive. Not sure we can get that via trades. If we are not within 4 in the division, I would be happy to be sellers and restock our minor league talent rather than be buyers and deplete it more.
i know it seems too early to throw in the towel, but that is close to where I am this season.

This Cardinal team is getting harder and harder to watch. Two bombs Friday in the first inning and nothing else. Starting pitching can't go 6 innngs.

Madbum, read where Stroman and Grienke couldbe available. But I don't think the front office has the balls to make a deal midseason. Mo only goes for the older relievers. Holland, Gregerson, Miller.

Cubs just signed Kimbrel and STL HAS TONS OF money. Hicks is not a closer yet

Don't forget what you said about HOPE! If we are no more than 5 out at the all star break I will still be confident. I don't know what to expect by the trade deadline either but I'm sure counting on both Martinez and Reyes being in our starting rotation in the near future. I'm also counting on our team to start hitting in the near future so maybe I'm hoping for too much. With that said, at least Wacha can beat the FISH.

I agree, Hicks is not a dependable closer yet!

Not that it matters, but the Cards have played the 2nd highest SOS this season so far...so that should lighten up as June and July play out....

I doubt you really meant to use the word "confident". Hope, yes, but confidence is not what this current team has given us. I don't think it is over, but the rest of the games before the All Star Break will be very important. I really don't want to see them give up young talent for an outside chance at the playoffs.
Right now it looks like Philly and Atlanta will get 2 of the playoff spots. The Dodgers will get one. That leave the Brewers and Cubs to fight it out for the division with the other team being in the last wildcard spot. The Cards are behind Colorado, Arizona and San Diego at the moment for the first team out. There is still time, but it doesn't feel like this team can start clicking this season. Man. I don't like sounding so pessimistic. My point is that I don't want to see us be sellers for an outside chance. Now if the selling includes getting a good player under contract for a few years, it may be different.

Actually I did mean to use the word 'confident' along with 'hope' of course. I still believe in our team even though I'm disappointed about the way we have played since the first of May. There is way too much baseball left to be played this season to be filling in the playoff brackets because so much could happen with injuries, suspensions, etc. Most teams that are around the .500 mark and are still in the race at the deadline are neither buyers or sellers unless a special deal falls in place and that's what I expect our Cardinals to be even though obviously I hope we will be better than that at that time. I hope our team will give you reasons to become more optimistic soon my friend.
