i thought so as well. i thought the character would have something more evil to use in that final battle, but the mountain and the big arrows were it so considering, i thought hedley did a great job with the script she had to work with. and it's kind of fitting for her and jamie to go out together. they were born together.

Thought I'd mention it but remember the spoilers I brought up a couple of weeks ago and how they were dead on for episode 4? Well, they were dead on for episode 5 too. So if you looked them up, I'd say we know how this ends

This is what I think, but I really freaking hope not. The good news is that I've been basically wrong about everything else, so there's no way I'm right about Arya killing Dany.

Can't see it being Arya. Has to be Jon IMO. He was brought back to life for some reason. My guess is to take out Dany, perhaps with dragon glass to the heart forcing her to live north in the lands of always winter.

Dany had been taking advice all along. If she hadn't, she would still most likely have all 3 dragons, most of her army, most of her advisors and the Iron Throne (which she would have had a long time ago).

I'm not defending Dany, but enough was enough.
One could argue that she was taking Missandei's advice from the last episode.

Her last word was "Dracarys".

My perspective is that the reason Jon was brought back was to rally the humans against the white walkers. He did that by bringing Dany and the armies of the living to fight the NK threat. Now his purpose for being brought back has been served and it's time to pay the piper.

Only death can pay for life

Could be but I think its got to be bigger than that. He was already starting to rally people against the WW before he was killed. Also, if he had already served his purpose, you would think he would have died in the long night or right after it like Berik and the red woman. In other words he hasn't "served his purpose "yet. Still think he could be the prince that was promised... otherwise, that was all just nonsense folklore which I guess could be the case.

I also just don't find it likely they give Arya the 2 of the biggest kills in the show. I agree they seem to want us to think it will be her though, I just think its misdirection. I could even see Arya trying to kill Dany and it backfiring leading Dany to kill Arya and this being the straw that breaks the camels back with Jon.

If Jon ends up as the Prince who was promised, then the biggest takeaway from the series will be "Melisandre was right all along!"

Given the way that character has played out, I dont expect her to have been a Prophetess Cassandra type character.

She had a list of those she went to sleep reciting, those she would kill and get revenge on. She wasn't doing it to help the weak, she was out to take care of those who wronged her.

She will not be killing the Night King in the books, I am sure of that.

Book Arya goes for Cersei

Is there even a Night King in the books?

I am not a fan of the last episode. She went from zero to a hundred, real quick. Too quick. It felt rushed.

I have no problem with her going the "Mad Queen" route though. I think most viewers knew that was a possible outcome. I just wished it was a more detailed, drawn out process. Not the "she snapped" genocide event we just witnessed.

I also didn't like how the episode played out with everything feeling so contrived just to reach the series finally.

Prince that was promised thing goes well beyond Melisandre. It's a old prophecy at least going back to old Valyaria. Clearly she was wrong about Stanis and I not sure if she ever completely committed to Jon or Dany on it. So, it wouldn't lead me to that same takeway.

She's also right sometimes in more vague ways like with Arya and the eyes quote. Not sure she saw Arya as the one that won the long night until, it clicked for her when Beric died. Same might could be said about both Jon and Dany having something to do with the PTWP and the real saving of humanity that is needed is from Dany.

She wouldn't have gone to the North and the Night King would be in Dorne.

I don't disagree, really we've grown accustomed to a slow pace with show and lots of development, so really difficult to accept things when they just change very quickly. I think this is why Martin and others came out before this season aired saying they wish they had more time. They basically shifted gears from a slow thorough character development pace to a fast race to the finish line.

I still like it but it really could have been much better.

Yeah..She was going to charge into the red wedding for revenge and not to save people...despite the hound specifically stating ”its too late theyre dead”

Or how about rushing the stage when her father was going to be beheaded

She Is definitely about saving/helping those in need...despite the consequences

Absolutely nothing was out of character with her helping the townsfolk
