I expect them to use their head for once and not be idiots with our cap space. The Collins deal is absurd. I expect them to run the team like other successful organizations do. There is no reason why we should still have some of these players on our roster taking up cap space. Davis, Reed and Norman make too much to be either hurt or inconsistent.

I expect this team to be a little more wise with free agents. I presented a plan before FA that made a heck of a lot more sense then what this circus is doing. Pull up the post if you would like to. We are signing guys out of retirement for crying out loud. Its a joke and I think the team is tanking.
This has nothing to do with Collins. Flowers is 24 and was the 9th pick in the 2015 draft. He's been used as a tackle, but he fits best as a road-grading guard - where he'll probably start unless brother Christian and the other tackles can't stay healthy, and he's 6'6 335 lbs. Regardless of their other moves, this was a smart one.

Landon Collins
Josh Norman
Jordan Reed
Vernon Davis

See links above. I know that this has already been discussed & clarified by others. Collins cap hit this season is minimal & after 3 seasons his dead cap money goes down considerably. The only way his signing will be a disaster if he has a career ending injury in first few seasons or turns out to be awful (don't expect either & that is the risk that you take). The other 3 players you mention incur minimal dead cap money after this season (none for Davis).

That being the case why not go with these guys for one more season or at least consider it? Keeping them is actually the opposite of tanking. If they were tanking they would have gotten rid of all of these guys & not even consider bringing in a player like Collins. I think that you have it backwards.

I don't have any real hopes for this season so I am fine with making these moves this season especially since Collins should be in their plans for many seasons. Was has he overpaid? Probably, but that is how free agency works in this era. He is still a solid addition. Also A. Smith's money will be off the books within the next few years & the Skins should have tons of available money by that time & realistically that is when they should be real competitors if it occurs at all.

Listen I am as pessimistic as you most of the time. However I don't see the moves (or lack thereof) being that bad. We will see.

He was slow on his feet which is why he grabbed the shoulder pads. Ideally you would like him to get there a half step sooner and deliver a bunch to the chest. He did push him into the wash so his feet got tangled up so it wasn't a terrible play.

So let me get this straight. He is going to be an under-rated Guard that every other team in the NFL didn't see until now?
If he is best at Guard, why didn't the Giants try it? Why didn't other teams with better front offices not see this? You could be right but I highly doubt our circus of a front office stumbled into this diamond in the rough.
Not one NFL pundit has said this was a good signing, yet, our fanbase does. I think we are too used to being awful that we grasp at anything now.

Granted - the current Redskins FO has made some bad mistakes (& possibly some other decent moves recently). However I think that the Giants FO might be worse (they have done a horrendous job in last few seasons). Who knows with this guy & I am not going to base anything on what other teams didn't do nor on the highly biased media (again - they will label every Redskins move as horrible while refusing to even mention the team name - F them).

Again - I am down on the team, but I am not going to take it to the extreme of expecting every move to fail. Just wait & see how this pans out - it is a low risk move - nothing more.

I agree, it's a win-win, whether he becomes what others failed to see, or, his career ends here at little cost. At minimum they're trying!

I mean, anyone who's followed him even a little bit would understand this, and you're acting like the Skins got him for free. They gave him a $4 million contract after he's failed to meet expectations at RT. Understand the differences between playing tackle and guard. Do a little homework next time - at least read a scouting report before spouting off like that.

Now lets do a little research . One
Year 4 mil contract of which 500,grand is guaranteed . If he plays , guess what ? The move worked , if not he is cut and you are out 500 grand . No big deal
