i agree. the xfl is not smart, and the other will not work, i saw that interview with ricky williams and thoguht dear god this wont work

I'm guessing the XFL is going to do what the UFL did years ago. That is, give players who got cut in camp a place to play and keep sharp for the possibility to sign on with an NFL team later in the year.

im sure, but the XFL failed years ago. I heard olive luck on the radio yesterday discussing this, since hes heading things up. They are AGAIN gonna try a few gimmick type things to "draw" attention. They are going to directly compete with the NFL. THey will have subpar competition, gimmicks, and vince mcmahon running a football league.

Unless they promote heavily, promote fantasy aspects(yeah im serious) , and have some nice televised games with consistent covereage, they will sink hard

They should do mid-week games, so as to not go up against the NFL. I also read somewhere that FOX (FS1/2 most likely) and ESPN are thinking of signing on as broadcast partners. Don't know if those rumors are accurate, but if they are, I don't see the XFL as 1-and-done like last time.

perhaps, i thoguht NFL network was picking up the AAF, which if they hook on with the NFL, will be far more successful

The XFL's main problem in 2001 was that league ownership was in the midst of a spending spree on other properties. UPN was on board to continue their partnership with the league for the 2002 season, but between trying to maintain a Lower Manhattan nightclub, trying to start up what would be a short-lived record company, and the pro wrestling related stuff, especially the purchase of World Championship Wrestling from Time Warner and something had to be cut. Add to that the legal battle with the World Wildlife Fund over the "WWF" initials which also wound up costing them. There was no way the XFL was going to get a 2nd season with all of that going on.

Ryan Leaf had a stellar NFL career.

Better than Barrett, Miller, Troy Smith, and on and on of those amazing Bucknuts

Ryan Leaf was 4-17 in the NFL & the # 2 overall pick. Troy Smith was 4-4 & a 5th rounder. Miller was drafted as a WR. And Barrett went undrafted.

4 wins when there is zero talent around you is better and a team horse feeds you pain killers is more impressive. And Bill Pollian owes his career to Ryan Leaf. Had Leaf not told him to pound sand when he wanted to draft him number 1 overall all Bill is, is a guy who lost 4 Super Bowls.

He might aim higher and be a star in the AAF.

Eh, either way. I think the XFL will so better than the AAF but to each their own.

Vinny Mac should open up his wallet to sign Trevor Lawrence at the end of next year. Dude can’t go to the nfl at the end of next season and is the biggest qb prospect since manning.

actually, things could get interesting if vince did open up his wallet, the AFA wont. But if cvince started giving younger college guys big money to lure them, or let them get paid before the nfl did..........
