3. Mesz - not only did you miss a wide open winner in OT, but you're just as guilty for goal #2 as bryz was. matt stajan is not evgeni malkin, you dont need to give him 3 miles of space when he crosses the blue-line

I mostly agree with your stars. I think Schenn played really well again, he just does a lot right away form the puck and he's been on a mission to introduce guys o the fans in the first row that last few games.

Stars:

1. Flyer heart - came back from down 3-0, 4-3, and down a goal in the shootout. Stepped up the game when we needed to. Hartnell sparks the team with a fight (in which he failed miserably due to an elbow pad, but w/e). Team doesn't quit.

2. Kubina and Grossman - probably the two best defensemen we have. Fuck Carle. Fuck Mezaros. Fuck Coburn. Okay, Timonen is better, so they are numbers 2 and 3, but damn, the rest of our guys.

3. Bryzgalov in the shootout. It's hard for me to read, and I'm the one who put it here, but he was the reason we won the shootout.



Goats:

1. Flyer brains - Why are we giving a guy with 2 goals on the year so much room to make it 3? Why can't we clear the puck without more giveaways than a college job fair? WHY ON EARTH IS SIMMONDS ON THE SHOOTOUT CARD?

2. The refs - That "holding" call on Giroux was borderline criminal. Fortunately you made up for it by calling the dumbest hooking call I've ever seen on the Flames later. Tip: Hooking does have to involve some type of actual hook. I can hold a stick parallel to the ice all I want, and get it right next to the guy, but that's not necessarily hooking. Also, good job calling roughing on Talbot for not hitting a guy. That makes sense.

3. Bryzgalov and the boys in our defensive zone. Bryzgalov needs to stop a few of those goals. Yes, he was left hanging on all four of them, but you have to make a few of those saves. THAT SAID. Everyone else on the fucking ice needs to stop doing everything they can to fuck you over four to six times a game.

Sidenote: bryzy's stats were not good, but he was good tonight and this I believe is a promising thing to come.

Bad news: JVR out for a significant time. Dammit this poor kid just can't get a break. Reminds me of Schenn earlier in the season. We need JVR come playoffs. Just go bad, he blocked the shot properly just unfortunate.

honorable mention - shot blocking.. i didn't look at the numbers, but i felt like the flyers had a bunch of blocked shots tonight

1. Jagr - dude really? on that 2nd goal? that was a lame excuse for back checking.. your boys are in the middle of a breakdown and you're drifting towards the blue-line.. i do not like that. that being said, you did look pretty solid offensively

2. Coburn's shooting ability - seriously, i dont think he could hit a barn for 2 feet out

3. Jurcina - you dick.

dishonorable mention - shot blocking. just when i wanted to see jvr get more ice time, he breaks his foot. shucks.

Stars:

1. Read. First two goal game of his career. Always nice. Made some good defensive plays too.

2. Giroux. Welcome back to the first half of the season. Three assists is good, and he was dancing with the puck a bit, too.

3. Bryzgalov*. His stats were not good, but he stopped everything he had a chance at.
The defense really left him hanging on the first two goals. Mezaros in particular on the first, which is why Bryz is here and not him.

*Caveat: I did not see the last Flyer or Islander goal, so maybe that last goal was a real stinker.

Goats:

1. Early play. YET AGAIN we have to call time out with under 5 minutes gone in the first. Lavi should basically just pencil in yelling at the players for not trying immediately prior to every game. That or start calling time before the opening face off.

2. Briere, not because he was bad... he just wasn't really there.

3. The refs, not because the ones tonight were bad, but I need a third goat and the refs have been terrible all year so the spillover goes to them.
