I've been saying it every game lately.

Cooter is good. Damn Good. Like I was not a firm believer in him but now I am good. Like I never thought he had potential to be a star good. Like I thought he should have been trade bait earlier but now I would list him as untouchable good.

Coots makes that wrister of his look easy. Well...maybe it is for him, but man....whatta shot. I don't feel there is a goalie in the league right now who can stop that.

Stars:

1. Couturier - 5 in a row, this one shorthanded. Works for me!
2. Hartnell - was in good spots, got the deflection goal and almost a few more.
3. Point shooting - 2 goals from the D is pretty solid, and they had a lot more attempts.

Goats:

1. Bryzgalov. Not that 1 goal on 27 shots is bad, but that's not the shot you want to allow the goal on, buddy. Or, as somebody else might put it: Bryzgalov. For his continuous amateur play night in and night out.
2. Coming out of the gate. Can't let the other team jump you at home, and the Wild were pretty rough at the start.
3. Gustafsson, Shelley, Bourdon, Mezaros, Simmonds, and Harry Z. No points for them tonight. It's a pretty tame goat.

Stars

1) Coburn. The guy was everywhere doing everything.

2) Cooter. Starting to get some swagger. Looking damn good.

3) Harding. Without him, the score is 8/9/10-1.

Goats

1) Clusterfuck. One of my fav non Flyer players, but dude had zero composure last night and he made himself out to be an ass.

2) Bryz. Even Helen freakin Keller stops that Powe goal from happening. Should have had a shutout, but nooo...

3) Zidlicky. lol Kid was total junk all night.

What the fuck happened tonight? The Isles of all teams. Holy shit is this team inconsistant. Where do I start. The G line wS awful. Bob's great numbers against the Isles came to an end. Got beat by fellow Russian Nabokov. Just sloppy. Did Giroux at least put up a good fight against that shitbag?

Lazy play against a fast team is not going to end well. This was a terrible loss to a team that we own. Yea we put a shit load of shots and need to bury some, but god damn we were just handing the puck off to guys like JT and Grabner. Did not deserve to be in that game let alone outshoot them like that.

Millions of turnovers, not good.

I hate that I'm saying this again, but the flyers clearly didn't get the message, grabner is not slow.

Id like to see cooter take a full time spot on that 3rd line. Its dominant with him in there. Him and read have some kind of chemistry. I also want schenn on the 2nd line (id call it the 3rd line) for Talbot. Nothing against Talbot but that line sucks donkey Dick, they need a third guy with offensive talent

Nice game from Bob. Couldn't ask for more than that, 4/5 breakaways stopped? Impressive.

The G-Unit needs to pick it up. -3 for roo and jagr is unacceptable

1. Bob- he was the only reason we were in the game at all.
2. The Isle PP- they sucked and actually let us hang around longer.
3. The Cooter/Read connection- They had some real good chemistry and produced a goal for us.

Goats

1. Our PP- how fucking awful did they look tonight, and how many times can you turn over the puck and give the Isles break aways?
2. Flyers D- they couldn't pinch, make good first passes or keep up with the Isles F's.
3. Briere- when this guy isn't scoring he is one of the worst players I have ever seen during the regular season. He had another horrible game in the face-off dot, on the PP(since he can't control the puck or complete a pass) & he just coasted around the defensive zone again doing fuck all. I feel physically ill every time he takes the ice for us when we're trailing in a game.

Stars:
1. Bobrovsky. Sure he let in 3 goals but he was the only reason the score wasn't 7-1 instead of 3. He stopped everything he was supposed to and a ton of things he wasn't.
2. Couturier - I'm really starting to like this guy.
3. That's it, fuck everyone else.

Goats:
1. There is zero question in my mind that our defense cost us this game. More turnovers than I can remember seeing in a long time. Terrible blind passes in the defensive zone. Poor timing on pinches in the offensive zone, and even when they pinched well they still lost the damn puck.
2. Giroux/Jagr/Hartnell. Something's gotta change here, because teams have figured us out. Hartnell's been the best player on the line the last few games, and that's a bad thing. Maybe split them for a few games, maybe let Couturier center or swap Voracek in for Jagr. Either way they aren't clicking and it's killing us.
3. The defense again, that was UNACCEPTABLE. It's like they were genuinely surprised to see the other team on the ice. Whaddya mean it's not 5 on 0? For the love of God, look before you pass, and if there's no safe pass, DUMP IT. It's not even that the forwards were unavailable for passes because they were flying the zone, our guys just basically served up the puck and hoped that our team would magically get it.

Credit to the Isles for playing solid. It would have been a really fun game to watch had we not shot ourselves in the foot so much; the way we played, though, we would have lost by ten if Bobrovsky wasn't standing on his head, and twenty if Bryz'd been in net.

I also noticed tonight Talbot has hands of stone. He should not be playing with Briere ever. He cannot handle and pass Briere was sending him cleanly.

lol the hypocrisy here is getting to be unbelievable. list bob as a star when the guy had a total of 23 saves. where is all the "sometimes the goalie needs to steal one" talk now? bob played well until the isles realized shoot high and its open season.

the isles have outplayed the flyers EVERY game this year. somehow we managed to get 2 wins before by shear luck but it wasnt like we dominated them by any means.

my goat:
lack of physicality on the defensive end (as it has been all year)

Stars

1) Tavares. Bob stoned him good, but he was easily the best player out there last night.

2) Bob. Reese has been working hard with this guy and judging by his composure on the breakaways.....Bob is really starting to catch on.

3) Couturier & Read. Maaan.....how lucky are we to see these rookies playing?? They may show their combined experience at times, but they never-ever take a night off.

Goats

1-2-3) The Flyers. A team combined -11 with both G and J being -3?! Against the fucking Islanders?! Are you kidding me?! Yes, games like this happen, but....wow....that was fugly.

i dont understand. next time bryz stops 4 breakaways in a loss i'll give him a star too? and 3 goals against is god-send from bryz, why is it all of a sudden a bad game for bob? and bryz broke the 25 save barrier for the first time in like 3 months on tuesday

and the flyers didnt get 2 wins by shear luck, they got 2 wins from bobrovsky (stolen games.), and he did a damn good job keeping them in this one for as long as he could

and the flyers gave him 1 goal of support. bryz has had multiple games of 3 or 4 goals of support that he's managed to lose.

You accidentally left a 1 at the beginning of that number. I don't judge stars/goats by the name on the jersey, I judge them by the stats and effort I see when I watch the game. Bryzgalov got unlucky on Tuesday because he had his best game in a while when nobody else had a bad one and still ended up on the goat list. That said, he usually is a goat because he leaves gigantic rebounds, doesn't seem to stop anything that so much as comes near somebody attempting to deflect it, and in general doesn't consistently give the team a chance to win. Bobrovsky does leave rebounds from time to time, stops everything he should and some things he doesn't, and last night was the only reason we had a chance.

Let's go through the goals Bobrovsky allowed last night:

1. Oddman rush off a bad pinch leads to a shot taken from 6 feet out in the slot where the defenseman has not taken his man.
2. Breakaway #5 on the evening, and shorthanded to boot. If you are complaining about an 80% breakaway save percentage then there's not really anybody who could possibly make you happy.
3. Scored on a 4 on 3 power play. This is the only one you could argue he really had a shot at, and while I'd have been happier had he stopped it, I don't consider it a should have had it goal.

And let's look at this season's numbers, hmm?

Bobrovsky: 2.46, .919, 1.75
Bryzgalov: 3.00, .893, 5.6

Bobrovsky lets in half a goal per game fewer than his counterpart, saves 20% of the pucks Bryzgalov lets in, and costs $4 million less in cap space. I don't know that he's a better goalie overall or longterm when Bryzga-loss gets his head back on straight, but he's certainly a better goalie right now.
