I might catch some real flack for this.... but I have never seen ANY of the Godfathers. With that in mind, I think Al Pacino is one of the most overrated actors of all time.

**subject to change whenever I bring myself to watch the Godfather series**

Ditto. Looks boring as hell to me.

None of those are anywhere near a “classic”. I had Replacements in my initial write up, but removed it because it was not in the same class as the other 5.
Parenthood is a better movie than half the ones you listed, but it’s an ensemble cast. The other two I’ll grant are not “classics” but are good.

It’s pre-howling Pacino. It’s almost like he’s a different actor.

Matrix? Nope.
Bill & Ted? Classic dumb, stoner comedy.
John Wick? Classic Uber-man shoot ‘me up.
Speed? Put both he and Bullock on the map.
Point Break? Is there such a thing as a “stoner cop flick”?

I would rate Parenthood and devils Advocate as good movies, but they are no where near classic status. I could put them in his second-tier of movies along with Replacements.

Deep has a lot of talent, but he has become a parody of himself. In the last few years, he's played either a weird character for a Disney franchise, or a weird character for Tim Burton (or both at the same time). The first POTC movie was pretty fun, but none of the Burton characters have worked in the last 20 years (Sleepy Hollow was the last good one iMO).

He has a few great movies, but nothing that approaches "The Matrix".

To be fair, Matrix is probably a top 10 movie of all time.

Time to go to the matrices with a few of these haters in this thread.

I'm also in the "haven't seen Godfathers" camp. I read the MAD Magazine spoof. I think I got enough of the gist of it.

The first two are ridiculously great movies, but they are so iconic and started so many tropes that if you watched them today, you'd like you've already seen them and they would feel too slow for today. Kind of the way you'd feel if you watched the original Star Wars for the first time today.

And to be fair, even the most ardent Godfather fans would not begrudge someone from skipping III.

Yeah, you're probably right. It's also tough to get me to sit down and watch a movie that's over 2hrs in length.
