IDk how the hell Ohio came up -> but if it's so much better up there, I have no idea why so many of them are moving to SC.

I was actually down in Greenville for a few days back in November. It's not bad at all. The downtown area has some cool stuff to attract college kids. Are Clemson players really driving 40 minutes to go hang out somewhere though?

My guess is some are.

What many on here miss is that more than a few players are not from cities and have no pressing desire to be in one. Those absolutely craving a city life will not go to Clemson, Bama, or Auburn. The fact that so many top players opt for those locations indicates being in a larger “happening” city isn’t the priority for them some in here assume.

@Kaplony’s vagina chaffed when I laughed at him for saying that a small town provided “city life,” so he brought Ohio up in an attempt to hurt my feeling.
My feeling doesn't work any more either... :(

Not trying to sound like I am taking a jab at Clemson, but am I missing something here? Dabo has built them into a juggernaut machine, but how? He consistently gets top rated recruiting classes and brings in top talent.

It's Clemson, South Carolina. Anyone seen where Clemson is located? It's in the middle of nowhere in South Carolina...Also, the town is like 14,000 population, which I am sure is basically the entire university. You always hear about some jobs being tough because of location. Well, Clemson is a proven rebuttal to any of those arguments. It's in the middle of nowhere in a town not much larger than a village.

They are also in the ACC, I could see if they were in the SEC how they may be able to use their conference pull to get some talent much like Ole Miss or Miss State does, but they are in the ACC..Which seemingly is a conference that can only sustain one power program. If it isn't just an overall mediocre conference at best, it can only prop up one true power program. Seems lately if it isn't Florida State it's Clemson or vice versa.

And it isn't like Clemson is padding itself in a weak conference, they are getting top talented players and can hold their own on the national stage, even knocking off Alabama once and each time putting up big close fights.

So am I missing something? Am I googling the wrong Clemson, South Carolina? Or the wrong Clemson University?
I have two responses:

1) Location doesn't matter. If exotic or thriving locales were the draw Hawaii would be world beaters and there would be an amazing program in New York. Elite recruits go to programs for two reasons. The coach and the opportunity to compete on a national stage. What the hell is there in Tuscaloosa or Norman Oklahoma? Good programs. During the 80's Notre Dame was the "it" program. Ever been to South Bend Indiana? Its in the middle of nowhere and is pretty much like every other small city in the midwest.

2) It's been pretty established that the best talent pool is in the SE part of the country. A kid is more likely to go to to Clemson than Oregon or USC because its in the general region they grew up in.

To me, it's no different than what Uncle Knight and Chip did in Eugene. Don't get me wrong, Eugene is awesome for a couple of months out of the year, but other than that, it's rain all day erry day.

I've never been to Clemson, so I don't have any insight on it first hand, but I grew up in Oregon and know from experience, winters are a downer there.

What the fuck ever dude. I'd rather be a hayseed from South Carolina than anything from Ohio.

And judging by the number of people who move here every year from your shithole state there's plenty of people from there that agree.
Google "Great Migration" and get back to us

true...true..but Oklahoma was primarily built when the entire landscape of college football towns were mostly small town and bare. In that the Sooners built a traditional power and kept that success going. Clemson just popped up within the decade.
Um...I am trying to think of a word here? Oh, NOOOOO

I got 55 on my outside , but I said year round , not everyday ., They do wear wetsuits

Still beats that concrete jungle you call city life . You would be surprised how many recruits like to Bass Fish .

Ever hear of the Bassmasters Classic .
I live in a suburb of Columbus. Not quite the concrete jungle.

Because it's warmer and way cheaper. Pretty simple.

that's enormous... You might as well add Eugene, Salem and Portland together.
I was going to say that. If you're adding range to the market, Salem and Portlandia should be included as well.

I think we all know why kids go to Auburn, and it has nothing to do with city life or winning.
