scouty, I asked you that question only because I know you were sold on our Triple A catcher at Memphis who was in line to be Molina's replacement eventually even though I was never sold on him like you were which was a part of the trade to get Goldschmidt. I realize that Goldschmidt is only a one year rental but the dude has never had a bad year in MLB and I think he has finished up as runner up twice for MVP. I also realize that in a year from now the Cardinals front office has got some work to do to keep us contenders. I like the trade very much and thanks for your answer to my question.

Hey, guys, I also agree that Goldschmidt is a one and done. But he is going to get 8 games a year at Wrigley, Cincy and Milwaukee, all good hitters parks. I am still not giddy over Carpenter at 3b, but it is what it is.

Hey There My Ole Cardinals Friend, Don't forget that many players have come to St. Louis in the past as one and done and ended up feeling welcomed and decided to stay awhile. I'm not saying this will be the case with Goldschmidt but it's possible. We still need a lot of help in the relief pitching department which remains one of my biggest concerns.

Name one in the last decade that came here in a trade and decided to sign with the Cards. No big name FA wants to come to the Cards...Heyward (thank god) Pujols (thank god), Price, Stanton...nope. Hell the NBA and NFL don't even want to be in St Louis...

St. Louis has always been a baseball town so I don't blame the NBA or NFL for not wanting to be there to compete for the sports dollar. If this were not the case why do the Cardinals put almost 40,000 fannys in the seats almost every night for home games in Busch Stadium whether they are in a pennant race or not?

Notice the large amounts of fanny's missing in those seats? Tickets were sold, but they are staying away due to the last 3-4 years of crappy product.

All I can tell you is that I have been in Busch Stadium many times during the past five years for Cardinals games and I sure haven't seen many empty seats during any of my visits there.

i watch the games on tv and last year it was very prevalent that there were a lot of unattended seats. Tickets are sold, but fans aren't going

Once again, during my many visits to Busch Stadium in the past five years the fans were going with very few empty seats.

Why don't you address the last few years and not 5. They haven't been to the playoffs in 3 years...and it's reflected with empty seats.

Haven't we discussed this enough? My vision is 20/20 and I know what I see when I'm in the stadium whether it was five seasons ago or last season.

Have a great night.

Scoutyjones is one of those when they are winning Cards fans. When the Cubs started to take over the NL Central, he just lost it! Good lawd, not to the Cubs!

I have a lot of respect for the Cardinal baseball, just not so much for fans like scoutyjones.

I agree! He sure has an attitude problem and he loves to argue, that's for sure!

Looking at your favorite teams, I have a lot of respect for the Cubs, the Seminoles, and we can mourn together over the Redskins. Happy New Year!

LOL...cubs win once in over 100 years and that's their "dynasty" One and done...wake me in another 100+ years.

I get it...facts are hard when they contradict what is posted or supports a differing point of view.

Be patient, there is still time for the Pirates to add a key player or two to their roster my friend.

The Reds continue to make moves as they got Gray from the Yankees today.
well they know that if you do not win, why would people come???
the Pirates ownership think people come to enjoy the ballpark, not the games themselves! :L

We all get excited about the teams that we cheer for before opening day when every team is undefeated and I'm no different. In our division obviously the Brewers and the Cubs will be the teams to beat but I think the Cardinals have improved themselves with two good off season signings. The Pirates are probably a couple of players away from being in the hunt right now and the Reds have improved their roster considerably. That's the way I see the NL Central going into spring training but obviously a lot can change when it comes to team chemistry, injuries, etc.
