I was concerned when maddon said he would start today because i knew the rangers had trouble against young talent.

it reminded me of bumgarner, but i hoped they somehow were patient and competed.

of course it didnt help when our ace let us down

it's weird how this team can compete with jered weaver, but fall flat against these talented rookies

No credentials? A 97 mph fastball and two quality off speed pitches are a pretty good calling card.

I am just wondering why this kid was allowed to pitch by Selig. I don't see how he is eligible for post season play. Not a real good precedent to set. However, he is the #1 pitching prospect in baseball. Not exactly just a guy.

Good point. I didn't understand it either, but the Rangers didn't protest. So, it doesn't really matter.

Yeah he would be allowed to play if he was replacing an injured player but I don't see anyone who would count, their only pitcher on the DL is Alex Cobb and he was put on the DL August 7th

Rule 40a says that a player can be add if another player from the same position is lost for the season. i don't see a ny player on the Rays that meets that rule

I read in an article some where, that it is Alex Cobb that he is replacing. Kinda BS, but oh well. They pulled this same stunt with Baldelli last year too.

I don't get how you can call somebody up when a player goes on the DL and then a month later decide you want to use someone else to replace them on the roster

he was not added to the 40-man roster until September 12th. my understanding of the rule is that you at least have to be on the 40-man roster on August 31st to be eligible for the post-season. this is another example of MLB using an East Coast slant on the rules. i guarantee that if Texas had tried to put something like this MLB would have said NO

German wasn't on the 40 man August 31st BUT he replaced Blanco who was and is now hurt

you are correct. German was added to the 40-man on September 1st when Blanco was put on the disabled list. but when the Rays pitcher went down in August he was replaced by another pitcher on the 40-man and then on the 12th of September they added Moore to the 40-man and dropped another player.
