That’s the attitude I’d want from a reliever. I’m sure he would own him but doubt he’d strike him out every time. Babe Ruth stories are hilarious though. I love hearing baseball historians that talk about his 600ft home run. Bull fucking shit

So he'd strike Babe out every time, but he'd only be able to pitch to him at max 18 times a season if they were in the same division in today's game.

He's a damn fine reliever, but we'll see how well he does in the 8th or 9th inning after he's thrown 110 pitches. Relief pitchers virtually didn't exist back then.

Agreed.

You hook up with Bill & Ted and pluck 1920 Babe Ruth and bring him up and immediately plug him into a 2018/2019 lineup, today's pitchers are going to feed him their dicks.

The interesting discussion is if he came up in today's game, with the training, experience and equipment of the modern game, what would he be? I like to think he'd still be great, but I don't think he'd be hitting more homeruns than entire teams.

It goes both ways, because if those old-time players were playing today, they'd probably be working out more and be playing ball more (given the amount of youth ball available today compared to prior generations).
Babe was actually lucky his parents hated him, they placed him in a reform school/orphanage when he was young and rarely visited him. The school had organized sports teams and Babe mentioned that a certain Brother Matthias took an interest in him and coached him a great deal in baseball. Babe said Matthias was a massive man who dwarfed the adult Babe and could hit a mushy playground ball 400 feet with one arm...he hit flies to the boys with a glove on one hand for the return throws. Babe patterned his MLB swing on Shoeless Joe Jackson, though.
If Babe hadn't been placed in an institution, he probably would have been a street thug instead of a major league player. Interestingly enough, the left handed Babe caught and played SS for St. Mary's as well as pitched...

A lot of the stories about super long HRs are from exhibition games and who knows what kind of balls they were using....I am sure I could have hit one of those big super balls or a golf ball 600 feet, you know?

Free-Agent Pitcher Adam Ottavino: 'I Would Strike Babe Ruth Out Every Time'

Free-agent pitcher Adam Ottavino had a few thoughts on how Babe Ruth would fare if he were playing today: not very well.

Ottavino said that Ruth, considered one of the game's all-time greatest players, would likely struggle facing the power pitchers of today.

"I had an argument with a coach in Triple-A about Babe Ruth's effectiveness in today's game," Ottavino said on MLB's Statcast podcast. "I said, 'Babe Ruth, with that swing, swinging that bat, I got him hitting .140 with eight homers.'

He was like, 'are you nuts? Babe Ruth would hit .370 with 60 homers,' and I'm like, 'I would strike Babe Ruth out every time.'

I'm not trying to disrespect him, you know, rest in peace, you know, shout out to Babe Ruth. But, it was a different game, I mean the guy ate hot dogs and drank beer and did whatever he did. It was just a different game."

Ottavino, 33, has spent the last seven seasons with the Colorado Rockies. He struck out 112 batters in 77 2/3 innings and had a 2.43 ERA in 75 appearances last year.

He's probably right right, but at the same time, put Ottavino in Ruth's day without today's training and nutrition and salary to where even the roster fillers make a real nice living just playing baseball and Adam O might not be so hot when he has to go dig ditches in the off season to keep his family fed.

They'd also be over 100 years old

Babe Ruth would be suspended for PEDs

“…As the sporting industry exploded in the 1920s, athletic trainers and their charges immediately saw the possibilities of using his research. Even the Big Bambino himself, Babe Ruth, injected himself with extract from a sheep’s testicles, hoping for increased power at the plate (and in the bedroom). He attempted this only once, and it made him incredibly ill; the Yankees covered the story by telling the press that the Babe just had one of his famous bellyaches. Even though the Yankees tend to celebrate all things Babe Ruth, they have never, to my knowledge, had “Sheep Testicles Day” at the stadium.”
