Rays get Morton on a 2 year deal. Didn't think I'd see that happen

they could have a pretty good rotation if Glasnow can cut down on the walks. Morton is an injury risk (granted any pitcher is, but Morton especially so), but the Rays have the pitching depth to avoid running him into the ground. Morton's been quite good when he has been on the mound the last two years (and he did make 30 starts last year).

Yeah. Bummer to see him go. He seemed to really start putting things together in the 2nd half last year.

Really amazing job of sacking up for the playoffs. If i recall correctly, he was in jeopardy of losing a spot on the playoff roster before the alds.

I thought he was pretty good in the 2nd half of the season, no?

Should be an interesting season next year in the East that's for sure

BRANDON HYDE it is.

I guess it is a youth movement everywhere.

30-something GM and 40-something Manager with the Angelos Kids about to take over

There is some cautious optimism as the kids are Sabermetric modern dudes with very progressive ideas.

Maybe the old man Angelos era of Baltimore Baseball is finally ending.
I just hope that everyone realizes that Hyde is probably going to lose 100 games for at least the first 2-3 years he's around. Most of our good talent looks like it'll be in Bowie next season as Norfolk doesn't have much of anything.
So far, I like what Elias has been doing and while I don't know much about Hyde, people all around baseball seem to think it's a good move but it's a wait and see thing. Hopefully you are right about the old man Angelos era ending, relinquishing control to his sons.

According to a source, Carlos Beltran is expected to join the Yankees as a special advisor to GM Brian Cashman. Beltran was repped by Dan Lozano of MVP Sports Group, who also reps Manny Machado. Will be interesting to see if Beltran is part of the Machado recruiting process.

Somewhere, Aaron Boone is very nervous.

Why would any pitcher want to pitch there???

The last domed stadium standing -- but for how long? -- Tropicana is one of the few ballparks in baseball that is definitively pitching-friendly in every statistical regard. It suppresses runs, power, hits and it boosts a pitcher's strikeout potential. Specifically, it's brutal on right-handed hitters, whose home runs (0.811) and hits (0.909) factors rank among the bottom five in the game.

I don't think he's bright enough to be nervous......
