i doubt regrouping helps. this is a typical notre dame team with all the same bullshit they've had for many years.

They're 7-0 with 2 road games left.

Solid chance they end 12-0 and are in the playoffs

12 against their schedule and the way they looked? i don't think so. a one loss sec team should roll in ahead of them.

nd is coming off a couple big wins. you can't play out of your mind every week.

they were down late against a team that typically plays them tough, and they answered the bell. all that matters.

some fans just won't believe their own eyes.

My own eyes have told me just like 2012 they won't win the National Title but they should at this point make the playoff or get a new years six bowl game.

This was obviously a brutal game. The defense played okay, but we couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. Still need to sure up Special Teams too. Pitt always seems to get up for us, so I'll chalk that up to rivalry. Now we get to the brutal part of the schedule as far as travel goes. 2 west coast trips and a trip to NY. Luckily one of those west coast trips is Navy, who's looked particularly bad this season.

Still can’t believe pitt tried a fake punt instead of going for it late in the gm

Hard to understand your logic that a 1 loss SEC team or any other undefeated team gets in ahead of and undefeated ND.

I looked up 11 different articles rating the toughest schedules for 2018. ND was rated with at least the 7 toughest in all 11 of the articles. Most of the ratings had them with between the 2nd and 5 the hardest.
Of the SEC teams only LSU was rated with a tougher schedule in 6 of the 11 ratings.

Now you may end up being correct. But it is and has always been unfair to any team that tries to create a difficult schedule years in advance only to have some of the those teams have a record below their historical average and then say the team that scheduled them should be downgraded because of that. Wisconsin in 2017 suffered in the ranking because BYU had a bad season. Same with Ohio State in 2017. If Ohio State had scheduled an FCS team instead of Oklahoma, they would have been in the playoff (see Alabama vs. Mercer).
The best example is USC in early 2000 before the 4 team playoff. One year ND was 3-9 and USC was hurt because of SOS. The next year ND was 9-3 and USC played for the championship based on SOS. In neither year did USC schedule ND as "easy win" (see any team that schedules FCS teams).

Until ND decides to marry a conference, their chances of making the playoff will always be on the outside looking in.

Sorry.

That may be true, even though they play a tougher schedule year in and year out than most conference champions (that also play FCS teams, although credit goes to the Big 10 in this case).
If ND joined a conference , they would become a just above average team. Their recruits come from all parts of the country with the idea of playing USC, Stanford, Michigan and another Big Ten team, (now)4 ACC teams, and periodically a Big 12 and SEC team. Since they would not drop Navy, that diversity of schedule would disappear.
ND is often a barometer for other league to judge themselves, as in we beat ND and you did not.
Credit to Georgia and Vanderbilt for scheduling home and home against ND.
Don't expect to see Alabama in South Bend any time soon as long as The Citadel is available.

That's just it though, wouldn't it be nice to have a patsy to play every other week? The murderer's row of games every year THESE days is a recipe for fucking disaster after disaster...and ask TCU how not having a CCG helps your CFP chances.

I don't have a problem with ND getting into the CFP...but the odds aren't really in yalls favor.

No but they are Notre Dame and if they are undefeated or only have one loss they will play in the playoff or a big bowl game.
