On this subject, Gruden has already stated, "Alex is the smartest QB he had been around". Having said that, I was at the game Sunday, only a few rows up behind the bench. I paid special attention to coach/player interaction, coach and player body language coming on and off the field. Some things you enjoy a little more when you are at the game vs watching on tv. There is NOTHING there to speak about between Gruden and Smith. If anything, Gruden respects Smith's feedback more so because of his body of work and NFL experience.

It appears to me that the young guys are driving camaraderie on this team based on what I saw pregame, during and post game Sunday. Also, RK sought out and shook every defensive players hand on the sideline prior to the game clock hitting zeros. Pretty cool!

KC has been and always will be more accurate than AS. Try to back up your statement with actual facts.

Actually, most of KC interceptions were overblown because he needed to take chances. AS will need to take chances this season...I bet he won’t...and then you will be bitching about that.

Is that what you want, dingleberry? You want some facts?

Ok, gramps, here are some facts for you:

Alex Smith Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com
Kirk Cousins Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Since 2015, when KC became the full time starter at qb, KC's completion percentage has dropped every year, while Alex Smith's completion percentage has risen every year.

Since 2015, KC has not thrown less than 11 td's, while Alex Smith has not thrown 11 or more td's since 2009.

Since 2015, Alex Smith has the highest yards gained per pass attempt of either of the two qb's, averaging a full half a yard better than KC did two years ago (his best year) 8.6 to 8.0.

Since 2015, KC's passer rating has declined every year, while Alex Smith's passer rating has generally trended upwards, ending last year with Alex Smith's highest passer rating of his career.

So I'ma sum it up for you, dumby, in case all of this is too hard to follow:

Statistically speaking, KC is getting less accurate while throwing for less yards with a worse rating than Alex Smith is over the same time period.

Also, this:

and this:

Is it time for you to apologize for being a blowhard who doesn't know what they are talking about yet?

Yes, yes it is.

Yes, yes it is.

So facts then...

Alex Smith 2015-2017...66.6%
KC...67%

KC also attempts much harder throws than AS. AS is a stat padder as a CDC.

Now you mention KC getting less accurate, but is he? Could it be his OL has been injured and his WRs left in FA, while AS had the most explosive WR in football getting better each year, the second best TE in football over that time, and last year one of the best RBs in football?

I think you need to look at your YPA statement again. AS has only beat KC out in YPA one season and that was last year...AS averaged 8.0 YPA, while KC averaged 8.11 in 2016. AS also had the enjoy, ent of plays like this to pad that stat...

Alex Smith has thrown 61 TDs over the last three seasons, while KC has thrown 81. Wait, I know...AS makes up for it with his legs where he has rushed for 8 TDs...oops, KC has rushed for 13.

The Dallas interception was stupid. The one against the NYG was not stupid. He tried to make a play to an open WR when we had to make a play. Moses allowed the pressure which allowed DRC to get the pick.

That is great to hear. I am pretty sure that most of the offensive players really like Smith & also really liked Cousins. It is not like when RG3 was there & divided the locker room. It is just a switch from one QB to another. Each has different skillsets, but they both are effective & appear to be the type of QBs that players enjoy having on their team.

The players have done something that some folks here still have not - moved on. HTTR.

The only QB in the NFL to throw for over 13,000 yards, 25+ TDs and have a QB rating of 90 or better the past three years …… Kirk Cousin's. :thumb:

I saw it, kind of funny. Never going to happen though. The funny thing is they don't see us rooting for Smith only their misguided dislike for Cousin's. Cool, we have at least 2 years and 15 games to go.

That's fine. I expect to see 2-3 more years of Smith & then a transition to a younger QB. Again - I would have loved to have seen them retain Cousins & kept him in DC for another 5+ years. However it didn't work out that way & I don't want to analyze the Vikings games for the next season or two so we can play this silly game of "what if".

Well, we know that Jay Gruden's system is statistically very QB friendly, Good call!! :suds: Maybe, he will get the same or similiar production out of Smith. Hopefully, there are more wins though!!

There should be more wins based on a better defense and improved running game if we do indeed have that. There wins out there the last few years that the defense couldn't hold. If this defense can hold those and even aid in another win or two there is reason for optimism.

And he got paid. He should be shuffling a few of those 86M to Jay Gruden for the assist.

You are correct, he should thank Bruce, Dan and Jay for their poor FO skills which helped his salary get to where it was. For the one millionth time "if they signed him to a $20 million contract in 2015 we wouldn't be having this conversation." He can also thank himself for performing well playing on one year contracts for three years in a row.

Yep. Career-wise Cuz is over 65% far as comp %. While Alex checks in at over 62%. Cuz's career YPA at 7.7 is also almost a yard more than Alexs' career 6.9. So a higher comp % and goes downfield more often for Kirk as well. A HUGE underlying theme though is that in the last 4 or 5 years. Alex has put up his best stats and I do like his close to 3 to 1 TD/INT ratio over that time. I've said it before and I'll probably say it again. I think Kirk is a better QB than Alex, but it isn't some no contest type thing and Kirk does have his own shortcomings at least imo. I think Alex, or at least I hope, Alex goes the way of Rich Gannon who by any measure was no more than a journeyman till he hit gold in Oakland late in his career.

Gonna have to disagree though far as most of KC's INTs being overblown. Kirk has thrown some absolutely, mind numbing, infuriating INTs imo. Some were mitigated no doubt. Two years ago he threw a pick 6 in both Philly games, but the Skins swept Philly that year.

we have smith now . if he does well we do well and that is important .

i dont like how KC was treated , i still feel its better to draft , develop and keep our own

and the every snap judgments day in and day out were over the top by some of the fan base

the same fan base , mind you , that wants it to be all put in the past and have us forget the childish BS they did for 3 yrs

now they can have my childish BS for 3 yrs and maybe next time they will remember not to engage in the pettiness day in and day out and support our guys like they say i should now but didnt do then

Its only a game and Jay's had 5 years to get it right, but I did dig the way the Skins opened the season. How much if any credit is owed to Alex I have no clue. We actually looked like an all around competent team and coaching staff in week one. That's something that couldn't really be said the last 4 years.

Here's to hoping it continues...........
