No hurt. I just don't like people who post dirtbag shit. And I'm ging to say something about it. Particularly when it involves my team.

I had a run in with @Judge Fudge about him cheering a concussion. It happened, we moved on. It didn't happen again and again and again though.

Let me ask you this: would you verbally make the comment you posted if the family of the victim was listening? I really hope not but I didn't think anyone on this forum would think it's a good idea to post what you did, so....
Yes, I would absolutely say THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T FUCK AROUND WITH FIRE. Twice. And I would make fun of the Sens too because she was at a player's house and there was a fire and the team has, figuratively, burned down before our eyes and why not try to get a smile out of someone? I doubt anybody would give a rat's ass.

Wow. OK. I think it would be a pretty insensitive joke to make in that case. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Soooo, the latest is that EK will not sign an extension with any CDN team. Presumably that includes Ottawa (setting aside the obvious politically-based shots).

If so, OTT will need to trade him. They will get more from a US team (sorry VCR) with the usual suspects as the alleged leaders in the chase.

Question while we wait is: what would a package for EK look like? A starting D, a blue chip prospect plus a couple 1/2s? Is that enough?

Corollary Q: If Bobby Ryan goes in the deal, does the quality of the package increase or decrease?

/wouldn't it be hilarious if OTT trades him to AZ (with Ryan) and the Yotes in turn flip EK only to the Lightning?

I'm thinking the Stars might be a good landing spot for EK who might be willing to part with young prospect Miro Heiskanen as part of a package.

My guess is everybody knows Ottawa is fucked and don’t want to give up their top prospect. Dorian is under pressure to get that top prospect so he keeps waiting but the phone went silent all summer and now he’s shitting himself so he called Friedge and planted some bullshit story about “heating up” talks and threw a Canadian team in to really get it in the news.

I’m betting EK starts the season with the Sens and they end up getting a first and a depth C from a playoff team in the new year. For the hell of it, I’ll guess Philly.

If he wants to maximize his return, he needs to go public and create an auction atmosphere. IMO that is the only way he gets a decent haul. A lot more than a first and a depth C. Too many potentially interested teams for the final price to be that low.

Will he though? No idea.

But he's pretty much done that already, no? Even going back to the trade deadline. The only thing that may have changed is maybe not pegging Ryan to any deal.

Assuming that, you also need to look at it from a team-by-team standpoint. Say the frontrunners are TB, Dallas, Vegas and Nashville (I'd throw Colorado in there too because I think it's a massive fit but I figure Dorion would only want his first rounder back to which Sakic will laugh over the phone for 45 minutes):

TB - The top ask is either Sergachev or Point. Does it really make sense to give up 1) A defenceman who may very well be among the league's top 20 blue liners as soon as this season and is cost-controlled for 2 more years followed by RFA, and if not him 2) your 2nd line centre? I think if they believed it were the deal would be done by now because it would almost certainly be the first time in league history where such a prominent player was traded for a 1 year rental.

Dallas - Throw EK onto the Stars, are they an instant contender? Spezza had 26 points last season and he's still penciled in as their 2C and he's still probably their best non-top line player. Even with EK they still will probably have to fight like hell to make the playoffs. So is that really worth giving up your best prospect for? And if not Heiskanen, who else interests Ottawa? Here's a fun fact: The only player the Stars have drafted since 2013 to play an NHL game is Valeri Nichushkin. Jim Nill is one seriously underrated Bad GM.

Vegas - Here's a trade that makes a lot of sense both for executing it and walking away. Vegas could use EK (we all can obviously, but...). They beat the shit out of the WC last season. Made the Cup Final. May have even won it with EK.

But they're a year old. The guys they've drafted are who they need to keep the team competitive in 2-4 years. If they go down a black hole, just as another Black Hole opens up across the street when the Raiders move into town, they risk Coyantherasherizing themselves into irrelevance. It's really the only team that actually makes sense in every aspect and yet would be completely understandable why they wouldn't.

Nashville: This only makes sense if they trade one of Tolvanen or Fabbro for EK and then flip Subban somewhere for a forward. Which they probably should've done by now. Why haven't they done this yet? Brown, Nielsen and a 2nd, anyone?

To complicate matters a tad for TB is they are also apparently in on Panarin with Kuch and Vasy having invited him down to live and train with them this summer. They have 2m space and if they truly try to land Bread and EK, they have to move some serious cash. At the current salary, moving Point AND Sergachev doesn't give them the space to afford either, let alone both.

And to make it even worse they have 10 NMC/NTC type deals. Pretty much the only guys they could move making any sort of cash are Kuch, Vasy and JT Miller. Everyone else above 1m in salary has some sort of a No Move deal.

I was very surprised when they didn't move Johnson before his NTC kicked in. Not as surprised as I was when they gave JT Miller $5.25 shmill but surprised nevertheless.

/They could buyout Callahan, Palat's got a 10 team NTC only so he's not impossible to flip, Killorn's NTC doesn't start until 2021. Plus Yzerman's creative AF with this stuff. If anyone can find a way to make it all work it's him.
