I don't buy into these Japanese pitchers... Too be honest, which pitchers have actually lived up to their expecations?

mashiro tanaka is doing fine for the yankees
idk..on whether kikuchi is the ..right guy (for the mariners)..but a lot..of teams could use him...detroit for one
Doing fine... Sure... But I don't see him living up to the hype or expectations... Look what the Yankees paid to get him...
Shigetoshi Hasegawa. Was legit in 2003.
Japanese pitchers are too fragile.
Yeah, they are a bunch of brittle bitches. Three more to your list: Kei Igawa, Hideo Nomo, Kaz Ishii.I've noticed the biggest issue with them is injuries.
Tanaka, Dice-K, Darvish and Iwakuma have all had seasons in which they lived up to expectations, but all battled injuries.
It's early, but you can probably also add Ohtani to that list. Battled injuries last year in Japan and has had some injuries here already.

Generally most do live up to the "hype" at the beginning of their careers. Problem is most Japanese pitchers A. Don't pitch anywhere near the innings American and Latin players do so they seem to get hurt easier and B. Generally do well because they have a really good gimmick pitch. Most are kind of like knuckleballers, they can have success in short spurts. Ohtani was a special case because he threw upper 90-100 consistently.
