And as for polk salad, my grandma used to cook it and it would stink up the entire house. Never could get passed the smell to actually try it.

Collards tend to stink up the house, too, but they taste mighty yummy.

I've done a little bit of wildcrafting, too. Have eaten the young shoots of a type of briar (they tasted kind of like asparagus); the inner stalks of a type of thistle (not much flavor, but easier to chew than celery); and, of course, wild blueberries, huckleberries, dewberries, blackberries, prickly pear cactus fruits, muscadines, plums, persimmons, wild mint, chinquapins, & acorns. Also made "pink lemonade" from sumac berries.

I'm highly allergic to sumac, poison oak and poison ivy, so I'd pass the sumac berries.

Ate everything else from the wild berry department you've listed though, but add in mulberries, scuffidines and wild strawberries.

I wouldn't touch poison sumac. I use the berries from staghorn sumac.

I've had mulberries & wild strawberries, too. Never heard of scuffidines. Is that what they call scuppernongs in Georgia?

I've had elk before, but never wild Russian boar. Went to a Spring feast a few years ago where somebody fixed beaver & blueberries. It was delicious!

I tried guacamole once. Figured that even though it looked like someone dumped a babies used diaper into the dip bowl I'd give it a shot since other people were eating it. Bad decision, that shit is gross.

Guacamole is something of an acquired taste. Like beer or bleu cheese. It's hard to put down once you really get into it.

Between my willingness to try all kinds of crazy shit, and the months I've spent in Butt Fuck Nowhere regions of China and Korea, I've eaten all kinds of crazy shit.

There's not much on this thread that I haven't tried. One thing that I've eaten, but haven't seen listed is fugu.

Never been to Japan, so I don't foresee trying fugu any time in the near future. How did it taste?

It was fine, I guess. It makes your tongue/mouth tingle a little bit. It's expensive, and I did it for the novelty. Probably wouldn't do it again.

I didn't have it in Japan, I had it in Boston.

Sort of. Raw beef, freshly ground, mixed with spices and often with a raw egg on top.

7" Gray Asp (Chop it, grill it, put in in 4 oz of whiskey heated on the grill, Numbs the lips and tongue)
Philipine Monkey (Babarqued, tastes better than bacon)
Baked Vietnamese Cockroach (about the size of a supersnickers, tastes like an overdone porkchop)
Ballou (Chicken egg left in beach sand for about 4-5 weeks, Black as coal when the shell is cracked, I vomited when I bit it, considered a delicacy)
Elephant steak (San Francisco, actually pretty tasty, much like beef)
American Buffalo
Asian Water Buffalo
Australian Crock (sort of like turkey)
