It is just as much of an opinion to say it is difficult as it is to say it is easy. If one opinion can be said to be an amateur GM opinion then the other can be as well.

You did not answer the question

And he is batting 190, only Chris Davis is worse in the AL.

503 OPS vs 766 which is not good but huge difference. Baseball is more than batting average and ERA.

To lump him with Chris Davis and his contract makes no sense sir.

Agree.....But if I'm a player, it would get 'under my skin' at least a tad, that this guy can't hit for shit, and everyone knows he needs to be at AA. Therefore, someone ain't getting a fair shake.

That said, it's a bigger picture situation......Hoping there is one of course.
The Rangers want this kid and doing anything but keeping him on the MLB roster results in his being sent back to the team the Rangers picked him from. It isn't like we have anyone doing anything better. Send Gallo down

Why not, he's the same type of player. At least Davis had a good year to get that contract.

Who said that or why would you ask that? Pay his 6 million. If you trade him you are going to have to include that and more anyways.

Well, you said this:

Exactly what I was saying. I would rather keep Hamels than just give him away at a deep discount

So you're saying don't trade him and then pay him his buyout - and get nothing for him? Because that's not what I was saying at all.

One last time. No team is going to want to pay him his opt in price so the 6 million is a sunk cost. For rangers to trade they are having to pony up that and more money. So to give him away and pay remainder of salary and 6 million and get nothing worth much is pointless. It also makes Rangers a patsy when you go to the trading table. Better to keep him under those circumstances. Complicate that with Hamels right of refusal and a legit trade becomes even more complicated

Hope this communicates. Main point is I don’t think we should trade just to get rid of without something legit

That attitude of yours can eat a dick.

But now that you've clarified your point, if there's a trade partner for Hamels then a small return is better than no return.

Why would you say that?
Because it isn't so difficult as to be near impossible. MLB GMs are paid to do those things.

Is that a better answer?

One thing you get out of trading Hamels is to open up a spot to find out what you have in a minor league pitcher. The results won't be good when they take the mound, but the results we have gotten from various batters the past two years hasn't always been good either. If not sending Gallo down is appropriate then wouldn't freeing up a spot for a minor league pitcher be just as appropriate?

If you are setting a precedent of being a patsy by taking a small return for Hamels then aren't you setting a precedent as being a patsy when it comes to putting up with weak production?

Not my intention to tick you off. I attempt to be civil without name calling. But yeah I can come across arrogantly at times which is not good

Attitude is likely a by product of the Gallo bashing that he is worthless.

In principal I agree. I think Gallo needs to improve but unless you are going to overhaul his swing then I think he is best served seeing MLB pitching. Would love to see Scott H up here but I guess he is hurt. Rather see him than Tocci although he has had a few good ABs

Re Hamels. Of course that makes sense if you have a guy to replace. I hope we trade him. Just not for nothing.

Getting as many guys up here we plan to add next year seems like a good idea to me.

He definitely isn't worthless. I still have high hopes for him.

I still get the feeling Hamels will be traded.

I still get the feeling JD never wanted to trade Beltre. Actually, the cynic in me wants to believe the kid glove treatment Beltre's legs are getting is partially about sending a message to the league that he is too fragile to trade for so please don't make us an offer. That, maybe after the trade deadline Beltre sees more time at 3B. I know that isn't the case, but I have been trmpted to think that on a few occasions.

I’m so glad I don’t have time to follow the rangers this year. It makes reading these posts almost humorous.
Hey, it is all fun and games until someone pokes an eye out. We have a lot of posters with patches right now. HA! I might even have patches on both eyes.

Ha. I guess I am giving and taking shots lately. Tough Ranger year so far heading south. Could use some good trade deadline news. Thanks for lightening it up
