I agree ALR. Magic lost his mind for a few moments after the James and McGee signings and went on this ridiculous stretch where he let Randle walk for the same money he gave Rondo. Apparently Magic did not like Randle's game and decided he was done.

Thing is, Randle game would've complimented LeBron's.

Not everyone on the team needs to be parked at the 3 pt line waiting for LeBron to drive and dish.

And even if they didn't feel his game meshed with LeBron's, wouldn't having a double double machine coming off the bench be good for the 2nd unit?

I mean, that's all Rondo is going to be is a backup.

I loved Randle's game and with all the work he put in last off-season to bulk up and improve his game, he deserved better from the Lakers.

Did anyone catch the Lakers summer league game last night and be able to give input?

Looks like Hart and the 2 rookies did well.

I would not have mind keeping Randle, but with his play last year, he sees himself as a starter in this league. I doubt he would want to come off the bench this year. I wish him well. Loved his motor and drive.

If this article has any truth to it, it looks like we are returning to Kobe ball featuring this time LeBron. Magic knows better than to not look for more three-point shooters and maybe he is depending on the youngsters to fill that role but if we are returning to Kobe/LeBron ball, than I wonder if anybody told Luke and the GS offense which features a number of shooters and ball movement.

The Rondo/Randle situation makes zero sense. There is no reason to have Rondo at all with Lebron and Lonzo on the team. You need shooters around Lebron, not another PG that can't shoot. And to lose Randle for essentially the same amount of money just makes it worse. If they weren't going to use cap space for Boogie (and it looks like they weren't), why not just give Randle a bigger money one year deal? It's clear by the NO deal he took that he's thinking about entering free agency again next year. I'd have to think LA could have worked out some sort of deal. I'd be fine if they renounced him and brought in a shooter or someone more skilled, but to bring in Rondo? A guy that has skills that overlap with what you already have and is very prone to petulance? Stupid move on its face. There has to be some move down the road that gets rid of Lonzo because I see no other reason why it makes any sense to get Rondo.
Randle didn't want to be here in a reduced role.

I don't see how that signals a return to Kobe ball. It says in the article that Lebron will be playing off ball more.

It also says that he'll still handle the ball a lot, but he's going to no matter what. You want a player that good to have the ball.

Assuming Lonzo is on the team still, with the way he likes to kick the ball ahead, a lot of those passes would be to Lebron anyway.

Lebron is not ball hog kobe was. However, Kobe was more clutch in game ending situations.

The Lakers left him hanging, that's what changed his mind.

Why does everyone keep saying the Lakers don't have 3 pt shooters?

Hart was almost 40%. Ingram was 39%. Pope was over 38%. Kuzma was just under 37%.

Lonzo showed he could hit them in college, so his percentages across the board will increase this season with James on the team giving everybody more open looks.

Even the 2 rookies are supposed to be good 3 pt shooters.

Well KCP's year last year is an outlier so far in his albeit still young career. Prior he's been roughly league average or below. It's possible he could regress back to the mean. Ingram improved true but also shot less of them so the jury is still out on if he's really a threat out there or not. The others were rookies. You hope they continue the trend but it may not. So really they just don't have a proven track record yet.

We have some, but its best to have more. Lebron's talents are maximized when he has shooting all around him. We've seen it his entire career. Shooting and defense aren't mutually exclusive so that's why the Lakers have been getting criticized for adding guys that can't shoot.

Your forgetting, the problem with Cleveland was the defense the lakers are trying to give LBJ defensive players. You need defense. That was clevelands problem.

Yep tomodach. The players Magic has brought in may improve our defense at least on paper.
