I also think it begs the age old question, what does "valuable" really mean.

Because it's pretty damn hard to see any single player who's more valuable to their team right now then JD Martinez.

Yup, I agree, he's the MVP IMO

Doesnt change the fact that Mike Trout is and always has been the best baseball player on the planet

Was on track a little while ago to surpass Babe Ruth's single season WAR record.

I think he's slipped a bit since, but still, anytime you're on track to break one of Babe Ruth's records, you're probably pretty good. :)

I know... People just like to use stats on here (as they should) and I was throwing those out there is all. As I mentioned earlier it's Trout's to lose but it's not like Martinez is completely blown away by Trout (numbers wise)

the problem with that is while the offense might not be too far apart, Martinez has no defensive or baserunning value whereas Trout does. This is reflected by WAR where Trout's is nearly double JD's.

The Red Sox would probably be 7 games behind the Yankees

And the Angels would be on pace to miss the playoffs

Thats why I agree that JD Martinez is the MVP

Im of the old adage, "We could lose without ya"

The Angels could be behind the shitty Rangers if they didn't have Trout. You're punishing him for having shittier teammates.

Hes not even the MVP of his own team

He still has the interim tag, but Jim Riggleman has my vote right now for NL MOTY.

The Reds were 3-15 when he took over.

They're 39-49 now. He's got the Reds playing above .500 under him and they're beating the Cubs again today.

Pfft. Braves beat his sorry ass 1-0 in Tampa.

Guy doesn’t even make All Star game lmao

They took Berrios for the Twins instead of Rosario.

Hilarious

Will replace someone tho

Wilson Ramos

AL catcher is laughing stock

agreed though Ramos is having a good offensive season (especially by catcher standards). Stassi's the only other AL catcher really hitting (134 OPS+), but he only has 167 PA.
