Under cover of darkness and all by himself, Magic Johnson arrived at LeBron James’ Brentwood house at 9:01 p.m. on Saturday.

How Magic Johnson's late-night meeting sealed the Lakers' deal for LeBron James

Praise is being heaped on Magic for signing Lebron
What I was trying to say with my original post is that in my opinion Magic didn't do anythin special to sign Lebron
In fact Lakers could have had a bucket of cigarette butts as their GM and Lebron still would have signed with the Lakers

Does anyone honestly realistically think that if Magic would not have met him that night that Lebron wuldhave signed somewhere else?

Lebron was dead set on signing with the Lakers no matter who was GM. The allure of LA, the marque name of the Lakers, the promising young roster of the Lakers, the Lebron family wanted to live in LA - all of these had more influence on Lebron signing with the Lakers over Magic as GM

In the end who cares - regardless of who was responsible or not Lebron signed with the Lakers
Good move by the Lakers
Should be an interesting year in the West

14 games is exaggerating a bit. I think Cleveland's going to be horrible with this roster. But with Love, I think they win between 25-28 games.
I was trying to be generous, I wasn' trying to be realistsic

While I agree with you that Magic and Polinka didn't pull off a magic trick with Lebron I do think they deserve some credit for helping with the allure. You can't just assume that Lebron would have come to the Lakers no matter what.

Especially when the Lakers have been admittedly striking out in free agency the last several years.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the context. But are you saying they'll win less than 14 games?
OH HE'L NO, I was saying 14 Maximum and to be honest, they might be the first team ever to lose all 82 if they trade Love

Really? You think the Cavs would go 0-82. I'd like to see Cleveland be a miserable bag of shit as a team. But they're going to win more than 14 games. I'm willing to make a 2-week AVI bet on that.

That's just a ridiculous statement to make. I don't think you realize how weak the East is and that the Cavs schedule will reflect that.

If they keep Kevin Love, yes, but if they trade Kevin Love then, I doubt that they win as many as 14.

I'm willing to make a bet that if they trade Love they'll win more than 14 games. You're not factoring in that every year there are teams that tank. Also, by all reports, it looks like the Cavs aren't going to look for trading Love. But there's only been 1 or 2 times that I can recall that a team has won less than 14 games. One of which was when the 76ers purposefully tanked after their trades didn't work out.
