Just saw Jay at the D[Backs game on Saturday. How can a team as shitty as the Royals trade a guy who's hitting .307 and playing a solid Center Field ever day?
Because the team needs prospects to fill out a very depleted farm system and they can sell high (relatively) on an average-ish player to a team that was in a huge down spiral at the time, K happy, and had AJ on the DL. They had the same kind of idea for Lucas Duda and a couple others, it just hasn't worked out for him.Just saw Jay at the D[Backs game on Saturday. Sounds right. Fits right in for one of the most cheapskate organizations in professional sports.Because the team needs prospects to fill out a very depleted farm system and they can sell high (relatively) on an average-ish player to a team that was in a huge down spiral at the time, K happy, and had AJ on the DL. They can also avoid Jay's incentives in his contract if the Royals traded him when they did.
