I don't. I considered the prequels as some of the worst movies of all time. But they look like the Godfather compared to the last jedi which was an absolute disaster of indentity politics, 3rd wave feminism cliches, and a mountain of sjw bullshit.
It made 0 sense from begining to end, crapped all over the old characters, and tried to ram a bunch of far left political ideologies down our throats.
Thats the biggest sin of all. The hollywood illiberals have "politicized" Star Wars. Kathleen Kennedy deserves to be fired. Today. Clean house at Disney Films of all the soyboys and SJWs put in charge of the scripts and production. These miserable aholes wreck everything they touch.

I personally didn't see solo because it was the start of summer and I'm too damn busy... plus I just spent 3 hours watching Avengers the week before.

And disney films are doing fine... didn't Incredibles break all kinds of records? Same with Avengers? Disney practically prints money. Solo was just a shit film for a character that was 4th or worse most popular in the series. But I'd blame it more on Star Wars fatigue than any right wing derp in your posts.

That purple haired woman who saved the rebellion was also a good guy with a blaster that stopped a mutiny like only Sarah Palin could. She should have been trumpeted as a hero for right wing values. If she didn't know how to shoot, the failed plan of the hispanic guy to have a black guy and asian woman breach the borders of the first order with the help of a technical coyote would have doomed the rebellion. There is a backstory to this. The First Order isn't a brand new entity, but rose from the remains of the empire after a bit of a power struggle.

That actually sounds a lot more interesting than what we got in Episodes 7 & 8 to me. I assume they were afraid to get into too much politics because of the prequel backlash, which is understandable but I don't really think that's what was wrong with the prequels. If done properly, it could be quite interesting (the first few seasons of Game of Thrones for example).

7, 8 & 9 should've been written by George Lucas and directed by someone else.

Ever since Episode 8 my thoughts have been that the prequels had too much George Lucas. This sequel trilogy doesn't have enough George Lucas. The original trilogy had just the right amount of George Lucas.

They still could have addressed some of that in the actual films with better writing or dialogue. You don't need minutes long exposition dumps either. The OT was great about establishing enough of the roles just through bits of dialogue, how characters reacted, and other smaller details. Neither 7 or 8 do this well.There's almost nothing explained about the First Order for casual fans to pick up on. I'm fairly certain most probably think its just the Empire. You have to search for it. It shouldn't be that way. I give 7 a very slight pass since it had to introduce so much but there is literally zero excuse for 8 not to provide any more details or any real development for any character.

I'm with you to an extent. I saw a recent piece though where Lucas said his ideas would have explored the midichloran bullshit some more though so maybe it's best he stayed away. However, the sequels biggest mistake by far imo is not sitting some writers down beforehand and planning out the story first. Instead they are doing it piecemeal and its suffered because of it. JJ Abrams set a table, Rian Johnson looked at it and flipped the table over, and then JJ Abrams comes back again to make do with what's left. That's just dumb.

If both sides didn't make such a big deal about it, I probably wouldn't have even noticed. The bigger deal one side makes of it, the more the other strikes back. Not sure which side started it.

I couldn't care less what race, gender, sexual orientation, age etc, a character is other than how it might be relevant to the story. I have nothing against any of the actors in these 4 newer movies, including those played by characters I consider to be poorly written. But the way those at Lucasfilm pat themselves on the back for being diverse and make such a huge spectacle of it is a bit annoying.

Am I correct in assuming that is what your issue is on this topic? Diversity in general is not the issue but forced diversity to put themselves on a pedestal is?
