WOW!!!!
Mac down
Slater up
Blanco is gone. No reason to keep him in the discussion.Maybe I shouldn't have written that yesterday.
Edit: Consider Mac's slash line (after his woeful couple of weeks, even) and compare them to veteran outfielders:
Williamson - .213/.295/.383
Blanco - .242/.289/.350
Jackson - .241/.312/.291
Pence - .195/.245/.218
And they tell the kid he needs more seasoning in AAA.![]()
I think Blanco is still worth looking at. He was only forced off the roster because Williamson gave the FO no choice but to jettison a veteran outfielder. They kept him at AAA and would probably bring him up if he had an option and was on the 40 man roster.Blanco is gone. No reason to keep him in the discussion.
I don’t think this is about Mac “needing seasoning”. It is about him needing to get his timing back. And for a kid, that is hard to do at the MLB level. Send him down to allow him to work on specific aspects of his swing and experience some success while doing it so he gets some confidence back.
Pence is a beloved figure. The Giants will show him more respect than deserved for as long as they possibly can. It won’t last all year unless the Giants fall out completely.
Jax will have a longer rope because the org will not want to admit this fast that they made a mistake signing him.
I view Slater that way as well. But dude has flat out performed every time he has been asked to. Why implement a ceiling?

I don't know if its as much a ceiling as an estimation of what he can best contribute. If he takes the everyday job, more power to him. I'd be surprised, but pleasantly so. I think Duggar is the full time prospect.I view Slater that way as well. But dude has flat out performed every time he has been asked to. Why implement a ceiling?
Duggar and Slater play different positions, though. Duggar is a different beast.I don't know if its as much a ceiling as an estimation of what he can best contribute. If he takes the everyday job, more power to him. I'd be surprised, but pleasantly so. I think Duggar is the full time prospect.
Hmmm...is Hanson hurt?Johnson option, Kelby recalled
Cueto activated, Tomlinson optioned, GOMEZ RELEASED!!!!!!!!!!
I was surprised. He had pitched well in Sacramento but had been on the disabled list for quite some time. He hadn't even started a rehab assignment. I would have thought Longoria or Strickland would have been moved to the 60 day.Sad day. Pour one out for Roberto Gomez
