It's possible, but how much would they need the cap to go up the year after to keep Bura, Vrana and Djoos? Would they really want to let go of either of those three? Because if they are, I'd take all three.

And, the big issue with LTIR, as the Jackets found out (costing us Karlsson essentially) is that you have to be under the cap day 1 before you can LTIR a guy for relief. Spending close to 80m and expecting to sit Orpik is risky if they are close. We were gonna get close with Clarkson, and needed to drop that contract fast (buyouts were killing us). Of course, who the F knows what the punishment would be if they weren't compliant?

They should let Carlson go and sign Jack Johnson :thumb:

I think they will have to consider that it'll be harder to replace Carlson than any of those 3. It will depend on each of their seasons next year.

Burakovsky, while immensely talented, is incredibly frustrating. He hasn't been able to be consistent with his play for any 20 game stretch, much less a full season. Hopefully next season he works it out, but I could see him being the odd man out if cap space is needed.

Vrana is everything Burakovsky should've been 2 years ago. Hoping for 25 goals next year. Keeping him on a bridge deal is the most likely scenario.

Djoos is still a bottom pairing guy at this point in his career. We will see if he takes the next step next year or not and his next contract will reflect that.

i don't think any series did more to cement our miserable postseason reputation than that 2010 first round series against Montreal where we lost a 3-1 lead.

actually, if i remember correctly. we lost the first, won the next three, and then lost three in a row to lose the series. That sounds familiar. uh oh.

Don't think we don't know it. This year is different, "It's OK to Believe" is the new mantra and there is way more optimism this time around for obvious reasons. But not me. I have not forgotten. I have seen too many 3-1 leads disappear in all sports to totally believe.

Check out Cherry starting about the 5:00 mark. Why does anyone like this old POS? It sounds like he is still butthurt that the Jets lost to LV & Canada again has no team in the finals. This guy is a clueless idiot - only morons must like this guy. Also not sure why he hates the Caps so much.

Yeah, any "analysis" I've heard from him this series has been essentially "MAF has to play better." MAF has played just fine, he's even been excellent at times.

Cherry should be finished. His xenophobia has always been ridiculous, but it's just not entertaining or interesting any more either. He was that at one point. He sounds like a confused old man (doesn't finish his thoughts or sentences properly, weird pauses, etc.) and they should get him off the air and start figuring out the next gen for his spot.

Cherry has always been a clown, IMO it's not just been the last decade or so. He is looking very very foolish right now and anyone who listens to him is an idiot.

Everything I have seen from Djoos this postseason tells me he has a #3 guy upside. Obviously didn't watch much reg season. He's steady and seems pretty smart with the puck.

Jonas Signaalllthathher and Bowey can replace Kempny and the Czech guy...with LuJo as a midseason bag monkey. Both under a mil. It sucks Samsonov didn't come over this year to get his Hershey on, then they could have pulled the heel move and traded Holtby. Washington's problem Is they have players who have way more value to them than other teams, like Oshie and Eller.

If they win the cup I won't care nearly as much who stays and goes. Will only be pissed if Carlson goes to philly or Pitt :mad2:

Always liked watching him in Hershey. He's solid and you would think he is a top 4 guy soon.
