yeah threw 21 Ints and had 9 fumbles that really applies to Russell Wilson who led the entire league in TDs with no offensive line and no run game help. Keep fishing

You asked a question, I gave you answer. Besides Rivers is a future hall of famer.

If you think getting rid of superstar talent over the years (Lynch, Sherman, Bennett, etc) and replacing them with lesser players is an effective rebuild or retool, you are crazy. That’s essentially what you are trying to get me to believe, without saying it. You have a very good QB. I shouldn’t have said great, that implies Rodgers/Brady level. The Seahawks lost a lot of talent. They’re already starting to lose ground on everybody else.

Heh. EVERY NFL team in the salary cap era does this. EVERY FUCKING TEAM.

Why are we supposed to believe that Seattle is in some super-unique position where they can't rebuild quickly (ie: Packers with Rodgers) and other teams can?

Quit starting at your conclusion and working backwards.

Could Seattle end up bad for the next 15 years? Sure. If Wilson suffers some catastrophic injury (maybe he buys McDowell's ATV?) then sure, Seattle could EASILY be awful for a long time. But assuming that Wilson stays healthy, Seattle is going to be good more than it's bad.

Thankfully Wilson hasn't suffered one of those big-time injuries you're referring to and I hope he never does. He's been nothing but special to watch out on the field ever since we drafted him.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the best out of your team and that's how I feel about the 53 players we'll have on the sidelines on Sundays this coming season.

And you can go the homer route. It is hard for fans not to see the good in their own team. As an outsider looking in though the Seahawks look like a mediocre team that is going to need Wilson to work some magic for them to have success this season. Not saying he can't because he is a great QB in this league but man it just looks like they depend way too much on him making something out of nothing for that team to do anything.

Your logic doesn't hold even through this one post. How'd SF reset so fast, from perennial power, to doormat, to up and coming team? With a good QB.

Seattle already HAS that, which is exactly my point.

I don't think anybody is really looking at the 49ers as a Super Bowl contender this season. The NFC is pretty loaded. They seem to be on a good path though with a lot of young pieces that show some promise and also spent quite a bit of money this offseason to add talent around Jimmy G. Go to the other side of things and the Seahawks cut some of the core players from their Super Bowl run. I'm not saying that it was the wrong move but as of right now it is hard to see how the Seahawks are actually a better team talent wise compared to last year when they missed the playoffs.

He works his magic just about every game so...

I'm certainly not putting them in the superbowl this year. I'm saying if Wilson stays upright, they won't be an awful team. With even a marginal improvement with that O-line group, they could be surprisingly good. Remember Wilson led NFL QB's in stats (albeit with Rodgers out for the count) with the O-line being... well... awful some games would be being kind.

As for the veteran cuts, that's the nature of the beast. When they signed the three guys on the LOB to those contracts, we all KNEW the pay the piper day was coming. Just a matter of time. The money for the FA buys on the D line was all out of O line allowance, so we all knew that the pay the piper day was coming with that group too.

Would I have LOVED to have kept Sherman? Sure. I figure he has two solid years ahead of him. Bennett, I think had already started to lose the quick twitch ability that made him stand out last year. It was time for him to go most likely. He could be a good fit for Philly, but they'll be expecting him to JUST be a rotational guy. Avril, well that was out of humanity's hands. It's not like they lost EVERY stud on the D. The linebacking crew is intact, and the argument HAS been made in the last two seasons that Wagner was THE most valuable guy on that D.

We'll see.

I never said they would be awful. I said they needed to rebuild. Their division is getting much tougher, they are losing key players, and they don’t have draft stock to bring in superstar players without catching a break or two. I never said that Seattle was in a unique position, much less a super unique position. The packers ARE in the same position, minus being in a tough division. Even though I think the Bears are going to be good soon, the Packers haven’t had to compete against any good teams in the division except the Vikings for a year or two. And the Packers haven’t been serious contenders since they won a title. People see Rodgers and they think contender, but the Packers haven’t been to a super bowl since, and they have suffered a bunch of early playoff exits.

The Seahawks are going to go through what the packers went through, only none of the teams in the nfc west are pathetic like the bears or lions were the last 7 or 8 years.

On a side note, I went to the Seahawks board to just read the posts, and you guys are a fan base who will find something positive with every move made. The Seahawks could trade Russell Wilson for a bag of peanuts and you guys would be saying things like “Well, we get a lot more energy on defense if we feed those peanuts to the DLine. Great trade!” There’s really no debate if you fail to acknowledge your teams weaknesses. I have been pretty spot on with the Seahawks since their title. But all good things must come to an end, and this elite Seahawks defense is coming to an end.

Remember when Aaron Rodgers was so scared of throwing to Sherman’s side that he avoided his side of the field the entire game? That was an elite defense. That level of “eliteness” is long gone. Without that, the Seahawks are just your run of the mill passing team with a good qb.

We will just have to wait and see what Seahawks do this year. What divisions do they play? Want to place an avi bet?

Oh ffs.

Heh. I can give you a few names of Seahawks fans on our boards who wouldn't cry if I got squashed by a midtown bus. We fought non stop over the last 4 seasons about Bevell, about Cable, about pretty much everything.

You see what confirms your conclusion, and ignore anything that goes against it.

When people hold your feet to the fire, you can sometimes backtrack and post pretty reasonably. Your first couple of paragraphs were a decent start. Then you couldn't help yourself, and veered off into your weird obsession with the Hawks and their fans. (see above)

Do we have homers? Fuck yes. What fan-base doesn't? But we've got our fair share of chicken-littles, and if you spent more than 10 minutes on our threads you'd trip over a half dozen of them, three of whom are calling me an idiot.

Big meh.

The team is going to have to do a reset.

Could have just started with that. Then nobody says boo.

As I've mentioned, it doesn't matter who the players are along the offensive line. It takes a great coach to get the very best out of his players. That's what Solari brings to the table.

Our offense can't get any worse with Schottenheimer calling the plays can it?
Yes. It can get worse.

The division is tougher, but the Seahawks and Cards have tons of cap space next year. Quick rebuilds are the norm in the NFL. The Seahawks and Cards will struggle this year, but I think it gets better for both teams from there, not worse.

Yup I agree. I find this criticism from a Bear fan kind of funny. Think NFC West teams are in so much better shape going forward then the Bears and their hopes on their QB who so far seems pathetic.

Oh I'm not saying the Seahawks will be a bottom-5 team in the NFL. I just know though if I was picking who would be making the playoffs right now I would have the Seahawks on the outside looking in. They will be competitive for sure but I see more of an 8-8 or 9-7 type season for them at this point. I'll be more than happy to eat crow if I'm wrong but I just see a lot of rosters especially in the NFC that have more all around talent.

I don’t understand anybody buying into the Trubisky hype. He has done nothing at all to prove he’s an NFL worthy quarterback.
