You don't think he calls that bluff?

Melo has had this decision a couple times in his career and he has picked $ every single time. I think it isn't less than 1% that he opts out.

There might be a chance that he agrees to be stretched if PG13 stays and if he is happy in OKC. Two big ifs.

He won't have a choice about being stretched.

Plus, he only has one year left, no need to screw the cap for 5 years when you can't sign a true difference maker anyway.

And no, I don't honestly envision a situation where he opts out. So, buyout, bench him or bench him and Deng him.....if George leaves.

PG would basically be replacing KCP in the starting lineup and he's a lot better than KCP. I'd say he'd be good for another 4-5 wins and if the other youngsters develop that'd be good for another 5-6 wins.

So with just PG added they'd be in the mid 40's when it comes to wins. If they add another star this offseason (James or Cousins) that goes up, if nor.....next summer get another big fish to come to LA.

Keep in mind too, that Ingram and Lonzo missed quite a few games, many of which they would have played in if this season was about wins rather than development. Had the played more, this may have been a 40 win team this year.

True.

And Hart got some much needed experience in Ball's absence. I like Hart a lot.

No one knows for sure but I got a feeling George stays in OKC. I would say the Lakers are at the very best a 3rd option at this point.

Regarding Melo, I would tell him straight up that he's coming off the bench next season. If you don't like it then don't opt in

Unfortunately that won’t happen as long as Donovan is coach. He goes out of his way to kiss Melos ass telling everyone how great he was this year.

I respect the hell out Russ' energy and effort.

But, he is the point guard and took as many shots as the rest of his teammates combined. I get that George and Melo were way off. But if Russ were actually a decent facilitator he would have created some easy chances to get those 2 going. Instead he shot 45 times. He needs to start learning from past mistakes.

I don't care who else is on the roster. OKC will never go far with Russ playing like that. Never.

Keep in mind, this game was played with Rubio on the sidelines. Rubio has been every bit as important to utah as Mitchell and Gobert in this series. At least prior to this game.
Finally, someone else sees what I saw. Regardless of make or miss, Russ was supposed to keep facilitating that offense & live with the results.

Kobe says "Hold my beer." lol
As funny as that is, Kobe ain't got nothing on Russ. RW is playing with TWO other good players. Kobe NEVER had that luxury. lol.

It's looking like he's gone. Maybe best for both parties. I wish him nothing but the best.

George is off to La where they have found a cure for Playoff P. It's called no playoffs.

lol Have fun with 3-5 more years of Russ dragging you to 1st round exits. The Lakers will be back in the finals before the Thunder if Russ doesn't figure out how to play on a team.
