Asking to see what people actually expect and what would be acceptable as a result of the 2018 season. NOt a prediction of record, but what would each person consider a successful season at the moment.

Considering I think the skins were close last year with Cousins had they not had some of the worst injury luck/poor strength and conditioning and training, really difficult schedule, and complete neglect of the WR position

I would have to say 10-6 or better right? That is under the (wrong) assumption that they upgraded or at least remained even at the QB position.

10-6 and better should be the threshold but I have a feeling Bruce Allen and Skins apologist will move the markers and lower the standards and expectations with Alex Smith.

I predict 6-10 though.

If the QB got better, shouldn’t we expect at least ten wins this season considering you give this supposed better QB a run game and health which last year’s QB didn’t enjoy?

8 games or higher should be the normal not this roller coaster ride that King Kirk the Divider gave us.gruden did say something about being more consistent so I think this means try to get to the point of 8 wins or higher every year ..

With Alex Smith we should definitely reach hire towards the sky! If the skins fail though I think we should higher someone new as the head coach though

The problem is Kirk the Divider lovers are on the Narritive of we got Alex because the FO thinks Alex is Better .We got Alex because Bruce and gruden knew Kirk was not coming back so they got a QB that can do good instead of going with colt and a rookie which is smart what gruden and Bruce did.. is Alex The Future No it's just insurance we can win games with Alex . With colt or a rookie idk

Both seasons KC had a reasonably healthy team we did at least that well.

Now for Alex, whom you just proclaimed is a better QB, you want to supply a run game which KC never had, and a healthy team, but your expectation is Alex Smith will get fewer wins than KC had with no run game?

$71M guaranteed should mean we expect to improve. Continue to lower the bar though.

I will admit to being wrong if we win ten games. I believe KC would have got us at least ten wins this upcoming season, so I would expect, giving up what we did to acquire Alex Smith, we should get at least that many.

Let me rephrase that because there is no way I believe AS will get 10. If we don’t win ten games, the trade was a disaster, and the season a disgrace.

Is Kirk the Divider = a "nick" pick? Bruce and Gruden and Dan knew Cousin's wasn't coming back because they bitch slapped him for three years while he was performing better than a QB in at least the last 25 years and probably more like 30 years. If you don't see that you should stop "nick" picking.

I predicted 10 wins based on yearly stats, long before they got AS. I'm sticking with that for the same reasons.

That said, based on the question though, if healthy and an additional two 1000 yard WE're a no running game, anything at 8-7-1 or better seems about right.

But the question wasnt what would the record be, but what would be an acceptable record all things considered. This time last year anything short of a playoffs win was unacceptable. So are those still the acceptable expectations, or have you lowered the bar??

well here is my position , i fully believe that with a healthy squad KC would have had us in the playoffs with 10 wins and i believe we would have won the ensuing WC game . that would put us in the divisional round

now depending on which day it is and which way the wind blows i am told that CDC is the better qb and hence i should expect better results . never mind he will have a better defense and run game to work with CDC has been deemed better (on some days depending on the weather ) so in light of that i should expect a BETTER result

what does a better result look like ? well stupid old me has the audacity to say that a better result is 2 playoff wins . when i went to school in the 70's and graduated in the 80 , i was under the stupid impression that 2 wins was better then one win . so by that flawed logic i say an NFC championship game appearance is the clear standard

but to the SDFC the standard is now not reaching toward excellence but treading water at a more economical price so 8-10 wins is in order and making the playoffs

what gets lost in this is my speculation that KC gets a playoff win somehow doesnt cut the mustard in a damn question of SPECULATION . hence my speculation that a NFC championship appearance from the so called better qb is somehow unfair to cdc and is considered hate speech . and further more these tender soles believe i should not be a mod for stirring the pot or putting my opinion down in text

so since my expectation of excellence is clearly hate speech i am going to say that 6 wins and 3rd place in the division is a successful season because in the end we saved money running this franchise like a thrift shop and dan made some money which is what the goal really is

Unacceptable was and will always be anything less than a SB win. Any and every one who follows the NFL should find that as the only bar that counts.

An acceptable record all things considered, well with two 1000 yard WR'ers and no running game, minimum 8-7-1 or better will do it! Same as with Kirk.

Last year we ended up 7-9, so yeah that was unacceptable considering the hype around our QB which, to be fair, I too, called pretty good.

Wait, are you guys basing this question on the QB play or the team play, under Gruden? Based on some responses here, it's the team play because people are citing health, actually poor health.

If that's the case, then with Kirk or Smith at QB, and good health then this team should be as good as Gruden can make them. another similar unhealthy year and we end up 7-9.

Neither KC nor AS gets us anything, QB being the most dependent position on the field, it will be the team that gets us there, that's on Gruden.
