I dont think you can win a SB with Smith. Every year he holds his team back in the playoffs. And hes pretty much everything I hate in a QB (captain checkdown, but he "makes no mistakes" so everybody loves him).

Hes also 34, we committed a big chunk of change to him, and gave up a pick and a player to do it.

Basically we committed ourselves to 2 or 3 more years of mediocrity with no hope of any real contention so that we can blow it all up again once the FO finally realizes it isnt gonna happen.

I have to be honest. I don't mind this move at all & in any case you have to move on. Why does everyone believe that Smith will do much worse than Cousins. He is not that much older than Cousins, is more mobile & certainly has proven himself in the clutch unlike Cousins.

I am not here to disparage Cousins but time to move on & as I have always maintained - once players are no longer on the Skins I really don't care about them. Good luck to Kirk with his next team - adios.

Honest question - do you feel compelled to put a negative slant on anything Redskins related? This could work out alright or it could turn out poorly - only time will tell & it is not as if Smith is horrible, Also I wanted to keep Cousins, but he still has flaws & ones where we honestly don't know if he will ever correct them (ie winning in the clutch). Let's just hope for the best since I am sure that all of us want this team to do well

With that big extension I don't see that. I doubt Alex agrees to re-up without assurances that the Skins wouldn't do that.

Maybe I'm just in a good mood but I don't see the downside of this. Smith is Cousins basically and for less cash. I don't care what/where Kirk signs for he was costing Washington 33 million this year and if Smith is 23 million that's 10 saved to spend elsewhere.

Do I think they should've signed Kirk 2 years ago...yes
Do I think Bruce Allen is an idiot....yes
Do I think the skins are the same team with smith over Cousins....yes

Dude, you cant put lipstick on this one. The only positive on this is we know the Cousins drama is over. I have to agree with @ehb5 that this move does not make us better. Reid rarely gives up on a QB if he still has something left to give the team.

I will place captain optimism when the team gives me something to be optimistic about.

I will say this.. the only positive I see in this is that we MIGHT not draft Lamar Jackson now.... but honestly I think Bruce has one or two more brilliant moves in him this year as he is just getting warmed up.
