Haven't heard what they're sending to Pittsburgh and it doesn't sound completely official yet, but unless Houston is giving up more than Fisher and/or prospects than I love this deal for Houston. Keep their foot on the pedal and go out and win another championship!

Completely depends on what the Astros gave up. Cole isn't that good.

But if like I said, they gave up only prospects and/or Fisher it should be a good move. Cole is pretty good. Especially if you're only counting on him to be your #3 starter. Can you name a better #3 starter? Obviously it's hard to say for sure until we know exactly what they gave up, but I can't imagine realistically this turning out bad for Houston. Not to say it can't be a win-win and be good for Pittsburgh too. I'd imagine they'd want one of Houston's top pitching prospects. They don't really need another outfielder in Pittsburgh. Even if they dealt McCutchen they still have Meadows ready to play.

Cole has 1 great year and 1 valuable year. I don't know how good he is. Does it improve their rotation? Yes. But if they gave up too many assets to get him.

And off the top of my head, first name I thought of that's a better 3rd starter. Gio Gonzalez.

Obviously this comes down to a matter of opinion but I don't think Gonzalez is better than Cole and I don't think it's even much of a discussion. But yeah, Gonzalez is pretty good too.

Thank you Jesus this didnt happen

SoxFan wanted it so bad!

Yeah, I don't get the Cole love either. Not that he doesn't have upside, but the results aren't that great and he has only two seasons with 150+ innings under his belt. I don't see how he's much better than Gray.

Oh I would rather have Sonny Gray. Gray's bad season in 2016 has been the exception. Gerrit Cole's GOOD season has been the exception.

Dont get me wrong, Id rather he not go to the best team in baseball, but I wanted no part of him at the rumored cost of prospects they were talking

I think Gray is a very good comp......And Cole leading the NL in HR's surrendered, I wanted no part of seeing how that translated in the Bronx
