Taggert must have told him he wasn't going to be picked up at FSU.

OREGON DUCKS!!

Uh, you mean the guy who produced the 46th best total defense and the 82nd scoring defense?

And last year produced the 126th ranked total defense and 126th scoring defense?

This shouldn't be exciting to any fan. Those numbers are horrid. If I were an FSU fan I'd be pissed my team even went after this guy.

Michigan fans seem awful salty about FSU coaching changes.

You would think wonder boy had done something amazing this year, something other than lose to both his rivals...again, or not beat a team with a winning record all year.

FSU didn't offer him $1.7 million a year would be my guess.

Yep. Most thought Leavitt appeared gone, but looks like Phil whipped out the checkbook to counter anything FSU was willing to pay. It was a message to Taggart and FSU as well about whose the richest sports owner in the NCAA. He wants a Natty trophy at the Nike satellite HQ at Eugene, OR and money is no object.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't really care about the FSU coaching change. I was more or less making fun of Oregon fans for being excited about keeping a coach like this. And pointing out that FSU fans should be happy about dodging a bullet here.

and I'm just saying if my coach was 1-5 against my rivals and had just completed and 8-4 season in which we had beaten no one with a winning record, I wouldn't be tossing around as many stones from my glass porch as Michigan fans on here seem to be doing,

Especially considering the amount of money they’re paying their head coach.

My team is doing absolutely fine and right on track. We also have one of the top DC in the country. So I think it's perfectly acceptable to point out how bad of a hire this is. Our record vs. OSU or MSU is irrelevant to that. That will turn itself around in due time.

Getting worked by G5 programs is the new norm for Oregon. They are perfectly happy with 7 wins seasons and faggy uniforms.

To be fair the loss was to the best Group of 5 over the course of the last nearly 20 years now. A Group of 5 that has beaten the shit out of a lot of Power 5 teams over the years and has absolutely dominated the Pac 12 for the last 12 seasons.

Leavitt hasn't shown he can build a dominating defense????? LOL :L

The guy turned Colorado's entire team around thanks to his defense, he took CU to the PAC-12 title game....Colorado...

Turned a terrible Oregon defense into what it was this year, the numbers don't lie, he really improved that squad. They are also very young.

This is a HUGE win for the Ducks. Now it's time to get to work!

He didn't coach Oregon's 126th ranked defense last year. Your boy Brady Hoke did. He coached Colorado's defense and was basically the reason that a mediocre at best team won the Pac 12 South in 2016. He had to come in and clean up the mess that Hoke had left him.

Just like Harbaugh had to clean up Hoke's mess in Ann Arbor, and apparently Hoke really broke the gears there and has stuck everything at 10-3.

New norm? last time it happened was 2009 and 2008 both to Boise. so 3 times in the last decade with like 8 years in between is considered "norm"

My mistake. His wiki profile says he started in 2016 as the DC at Oregon, but it must have been after the season. He still produced a pretty bad defense at Oregon. Hoke could only do so much as a DC, he wasn't the guy who made the final decisions and made the recruiting choices.

8-4 with no wins against winning teams...in fact a 7-10 three year mark against winning teams is right on track all right.

Notice how the front of the train is still on the tracks....

This down year was expected do to the roster turnover that we knew was coming last year. And that roster hole was because of the previous staff. Add on the injury problems and everything is just fine. I think Alabama probably would have lost more than 1 game, even with their joke schedule, had they been down to their 3rd string QB.
