My opinion of Kirk Cousins was formed on two things. One, how the hell is he worth $27-30M a year? Two, he's got the stats of a great QB who's got a direct path to the HoF, but he doesn't have the success of the team on his back to go along with it. I'll never get why fans back QBs that put up great stats but don't lead the team to success. The Skins are back where they were in 2012 just with consistency on their side now. And that consistency is being 1 game over .500 and always being on the edge of the playoffs. I don't know how y'all can settle for that. But, with that said, Cousins isn't the main problem. He needs a supporting cast of competent FO people, running game, o-line protection and better defensive pieces. Maybe if he feels the team is building around him, he'll play better and lead the team better. Just a thought.
I think you are mistaking playing better, with being a one man show. Because at the end of the day, Kirk is PLAYING the QB position as good as or better than most right now. What he isnt doing is breaking out of a pile of five defenders to rush for the TD. What he isnt doing is being the Sports center poster child for new and flashy exciting.
As for how is he worth that much?? Simple, because you can either pay him. Or spend the draft capitol and risk saving money and being a 3-13 team again. He is worth that much because the front office bet against him and lost. Time to pay up.
