Again.. if we HAVE a franchise QB. Why do we NEED to draft a rookie unless we are going to NOT sign our Franchise QB??

The only reason to NOT sign Cousins is your infatuation with a rookie.. in which case you most assuredly WILL need to trade up to ensure you get your guy (See Eagles)

Saving Cap Space is a poor reason in my book because

1. You have to spend it some where to remain cap compliant
2. We already know Kirk is a good QB, so what money we save would likely go into guys like Pryor any way.

The money saved would go to other positions. To sign KC back is going to cost 30M a season. How does that not factor in? If the organization feels that we cant win with him why sign him to a crazy deal?

Yes, I agree it has worked out fabulously for the Eagles. Guess what.. this aint the Eagles. Bruce Allen picking a QB is like asking Jared from Subway to babysit your teen age daughter.... that shit is bound to go wrong in the worst possible manor. We finally.. after what 20 years... have a GOOD QB, a franchise QB. We didnt have to trade an ass ton of draft picks, or finish 1-15 to get this guy... And you and some of our more challenged fans want to see them go back into QB purgatory because you are worried about Dan Snyders wallet??

Of those QBs you named, Dak and Wilson went to teams that were in alot better shape. Philly took it up the butt in a trade. Tampa, Tennesse and the Colts sucked in order to draft their wonderkids.

If we were starting I dont know, Colt McCoy... I would be the first to say we NEED to draft a QB. But again the only reason NOT to resign Cousins is if

1. you just get excited over rookie QBs
2. You have some personal reason for not liking Cousins.

Saving Dan a few million in cap space is at about the bottom of my list, right below a root canal with no novocain, Or a Tax Audit a week after I get back from Vacation.

How many 8 or 9 win season does it take for someone to say, maybe this is as good as we are gonna get from him? I'd hate for 3-4 years to pass by and there be no improvements and for the Redskins fans to turn on Cousins. By that time, you never know what the QB pool is gonna look like. I don't want to see Washington go into purgatory, but I have a gut feeling that this is as good as a team with Kirk Cousins under center is gonna get. But, like I've said, replacing KC is far from where to start improving this team.

So do me a favor Terry.... do that same kind of list, but only include Redskins QBs drafted over say the last 20 years.

Tell me which ones actually Improved the Redskins on the field, and not just on the sports center weekly blurb??

Kirk Cousins, obviously. Took a 3-4 win team and they are now a 8-9 win team
Robert Griffin II improved the Redskins right out of the gate in 2012. He hit the fan shortly after. Took a team that didn't have a winning record since 2007 and took them to the playoffs.
Mark Rypien took a 7-9 team into a 10-6 team 2 years in a row, won a playoff game as well.
Sammy Baugh, if you wanna go back that far.

Griffin was unsustanable, and we made the wrong move for all the wrong reasons.

Look I get why Dean is QUICK to want to be rid of Cousins. Dean values his mock drafts over whats best for the team. And he blames Cousins and Cousins alone for this team not making the playoffs last year.

You I dont get, unless I missed the game 7 years ago where Cousins trounced UCF or Kirk ran over your prized turtle or something.

The Skins finally after 20+ years have a REAL franchise QB. Is he elite, nope. BUt ditching him to chase the dragon and saying well its all about the money, simply doesnt add up. Because if the Skins dont pay him, some one will. In which case I would rather it be us, then see us make another bone headed trade. And mark my words, if we are drafting a QB, there will be another bend over and spread em trade involved.

@Terry Rode we have had exactly two 8-9 win seasons with cousins. Before that we were a 3-4 win team. This is his 3rd season as a starter. Do you normally bail on a project after two cycles and say.. well screw it time to start over?? Again I could see if we were 8-9 win team and the QB was getting worse instead of better. BUt every time some one says Kirk needs to improve.. he does. At what point do you simply say, yes we screwed up not signing him on the cheap when we could have??

Again unless its personal, and you just dont like the guy for some reason (HInt I think this is ultimately why we actually WONT be resigning Cousins)

So let's say we save the money. Where does the money go? Be specific.

What other positions?? The Giants tried playing Money Ball... arent they 1-6 right now?? Good teams develop through the draft, DONT over extend in the draft. And when they have a good QB... they fucking well hold onto him.

Of course you arent going to get into it, because its NOT about the money. It has never been about the money. Thats just a convenient excuse to try and say it would be good to look else where. We all know, the minute he threw that pick in week 17, Kirk was dead to you Dean. YOu would rather see Hugh Hefner as our QB than Kirk... unless he manages to win a Super Bowl.. then you will say well he is too expensive and it was really the guys around him.

Agreed, there are holes in our team. I just dont think you create another hole to try and fill them.

Again dude, take out the hyperboil, give me a GOOD reason not to resign a franchise QB?? IM waiting.

I mean unless you really want to challenge me on the cap ramifications of signing Kirk long term and how you think this will doom us to cap hell??

Wanna go that route??

Because you know there is not a reason to make the statement. The money can go elsewhere stuff is BS. There are only so many good players in FA and none make us better without a QB.

sure about hat. Jackson Garcon are not doing much for there respective teams. They are massively overpaid. I think both make 12m this year.
So maybe KC made Garcon and Jackson 1000 yd receivers, not the other way around???

Not major holes that can't be filled in a season or two. RB? Not that tough - get it via the draft. WR? Dump Pryor to free up some $$ & get a FA & draft another WR. Another OL - sure via the draft or perhaps cheaper free agency. A safety? Again - via the draft.

These moves are all possible even w/ Cousins signing. Also - stop portraying it like Cousins will count $30M+ / yr against the cap. You know that is not how much it will count against cap.

Perhaps you could make a case against Cousins not being that good if all other facets of the offense were doing at least OK. However kind of hard to come to a conclusion when he currently has a very banged up O line, shitty WRs and pretty much no running game. Still not sure how you see that as being primarily Cousins fault (& yes a replacement rookie QB could do much worse - remains to be seen).

Actually Cousins in making both of them worse THIS SEASON. They need time to undo all of the bad habits he instilled in them. :D
