He's just a child - lol because I remember the last time the Dodgers won with Orel Hershisher and that's been close to 29 years:lol:
Yeah I remember clearly. I was sitting with a couple of A's fans and we were drinking a couple of beers, during the 1st game of the 88 WS. They were giving me shit in the bottom of the 9th and they said, "game over" because Eckersley is pitching with a 4-3 lead. When Gibson hit his HR in the bottom of the 9th (with a runner on 2nd), I think I was the happiest person in the place, as I bought the whole bar a round.

I was especially fond because one person said the Dodgers would lose because Hershisher was no good and Oakland A's said they were disappointed to have to play the Dodgers and had hoped for a better team to play:pound::pound::pound:

Yeah, well I still remember the look on Eckersley's face, when Gibson hit that two run walk off HR. That moment will live with me forever, until I'm six feet under.

I have to admit, that the Dodgers did better than I expected this year - I didn't think they would be this good with what they had to start with, but the biggest improvement has been their farm system which is now producing some awesome hitters

Man Dodgers fans I'll tell ya, ur team this year reminds me of my 2011 Phillies. Stack from top to bottom, offense defense u name it they had it. After clinching early my Phillies had a lil 8 game losing streak and ran into a hot ass cardinals team in the 1st round. Ya know baseball and hockey it doesn't mean shit what ur record is when entering the playoffs. I wish yall luck and watch out for those wildcard teams that's on a hot streak.

2011 Phillies were 7th in the NL in runs scored and 6th OPS+. Their offense was pretty average that year. They had the top 3 pitchers in the NL going by WAR and had a team ERA+ of 127. Phils were a great team, but they had a flawed lineup (and some pretty poor defense).

The Dodgers are 3rd in the NL in runs scored, but they have the best OPS+. Just like the 2011 Phils, the Dodgers have had some fantastic run prevention (team 135 ERA+).

It's August 19 and the Dodgers have outscored their opponents by 217 runs.

That's 2 players to go yard 4 times in a game this year.

And there are some who don't believe that MLB is messing with the equipment?

BS. They looked the other way with steroids until they couldn't look the other way any longer. It took about 10 years, but they re-introduced juice to the game.

the league average for home runs is 1.27. The highest in a season was 1.17 in 2000. There's a chance this could become the first MLB season ever to have 6000 home runs.

Exactly what the D-Backs are doing tonight.

3 HRs for JD and 14 K's for Ray. D-Backs are about to move to 9-8 vs the Dodgers this year. A best of 5 series between these 2 would be very interesting

I disagree, but we'll see. It's more about the Dodgers being bad right now rather than the Dbacks being good.

or maybe the Dodgers are just falling back to earth? They're a great team, but they were playing at a .750+ pace for several months and that probably wasn't going to continue forever.

The offense is slumping, lots of moving parts due to injury, but I did say that the Dodgers were good enough to continue winning even if they let up on the gas in September. They haven't been doing that so far. The Dbacks are pounding the Dodgers but the Padres did too so I don't think it's unreasonable to think the Dodgers are just bad right now.
