All day long and twice on Sunday. All the defense needed to do was prevent a TD. In fact the Lions got the ball on the 25 with 65 seconds left.

The Lions had two timeouts. that matters. You left that important aspect out. lol

If Stafford isn't worth that much, Cousins isn't either. I think QBs are waaaay overpaid. No reason why Mike Glennon is making $15 mil a year. No reason why Jay Cutler is making $10 mil this year and I can't see a reason why Stafford is getting paid as much as he is. Barely hanging on to a playoff spot is not worth $135 mil.

And your average HOnda Civic is NOT actually worth $24K or more. BUt if you need one, thats the price you are going to pay. The Redskins have three options

1. Pay the man
2. Bring in a cheaper, and likely less talented QB for less
3. Draft a QB

OK my mistake, they had 2 time outs. Which mattered not if the defense could have held and not given up a 75 yard TD drive. 65 seconds, 75 yards and nothing but a TD wins it.

Here's a list of QBs that will be free agents next year:

Drew Brees, Sam Bradford, Jay Cutler, Drew Stanton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Teddy Bridgewater, Jimmy Garoppolo, Tom Savage.

If I were the Redskins and the season doesn't go well, I would draft a QB because you have Colt McCoy who, in my opinion, is the 2nd best backup QB in the league right now. Or, you could go after Teddy Bridgewater because he WILL be cheap next year, but it all depends on his injury. I would NOT pay Cousins that much just because he puts up decent regular season numbers.

2 timeouts don't matter in that situation?

Think that should depend on why the season didnt go well. If Kirk has a season like he has the last two, but the defense still sucks and the running game is non productive. You still think it would be prudent to start over just to save cap space??

Not one bit. If the Lions cant move the ball, then saving time means little. IN fact, looking back at that, they only used ONE of those time outs because they realized they would score and saving time would only give us more time to try and tie the game.

What mattered most and ultimately sealed the game was we went into the bend over and take it defensive formation.

no. they used two. I looked it up. I think a 35 yard fg would be easier to do.

I think that Cousins is the 5th highest paid QB in the NFL and has had 2 good seasons with no playoff wins. No reason why Cousins needs to be paid more until he brings more to the team.

The time outs were immaterial. Had the defense.. played defense, we win that game. As for the Bengals game, once again had the defense done their job and NOT allowed the Bengals to tie it up at the end of regulation.. we win that game instead of it ending in a tie.

I think most on here agree that the money QBs are getting is ridiculous. Just like anyone that would pay multiple millions for a 2 bedroom flat in NYC. Who in their right mind would do that? But it happens every day as that is what the market bears. Its not a function of worth as much as it is a function of supply. Welcome to capitalism.

Let's not forget freaking Matt Jones fumbling the ball at the Lions 2. They score in that situation & this game likely is over well before that final drive.

IMO whether or not Cousins is worth the money is not the pt. The pt is that the Redskins either decide they want him or not & stop playing these stupid games. If they didn't want him they should have cut ties already and moved on. As it now stands they will either lose him next offseason & be in really tough place or pay through the roof for him & for much more than what they could have settled for previously. As I stated before - incredibly bad planning on their part.

Anyone who believes that McCoy can run this team for more than a handful of games is nuts. He is a decent backup & nothing more.

The only reason Colt McCoy would open the season as the starter is because we either drafted a rookie they dont want to feed to the wolves, or because they intend to draft a rookie in 2019.

In either case it means 2017 went bad, or went so well Kirk was unaffordable. It also would mean that 2018 has basically been declared a wash before we even take a snap. Some one asked me once, how long did I think the trade of 2012 would haunt this team.....

Apparently five years and counting. :gaah:

You think McCoy is the second best backup in the league? Really?

NFC East...all backups are equal.
Cardinals, Packers, Vikings, Saints Indy, Baltimore, Miami, and Buffalo are equal.

TB, Carolina, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Tennessee, Jax, Pitt, Cindy, KC, NE, and Denver are better.

Just my opinion here. That being said, unless you are NE, you are screwed if you are counting on your back up.
