That last statement is the most important.
I think it is very unrealistic for any team to expect to run the table - especially in this dan and age of 12-13 game schedules. Every time your team takes he field is as much an opportunity for them to commit that extra error that costs them a game as it is to do that extra heroic thing that wins a close game. And given the number of moving parts on a football team, the former is much more likely.
So it is always best to temper ones expectations. As Benjamin Frankiln (a scientist and statesman of some note) said, it is better to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised than it is to expect the best and be disappointed.
I don't think I'd like the players thinking like that. Benny didn't play college football, so his remarks
must be considered with a grain of salt.
We play Bama Saturday night. I expect to win. If we don't I won't be leaping from an overpass
or calling for Fisher's head. But too many times, Jimbo has gotten his ass whipped by teams we
are vastly superior to in talent. There is zero excuse for that.
Losing to Clemson ly was tough, but they were a helluva team. Getting blown out by Louisville
was a pisser. Losing to UNC...ain't no reason for that. We are 15-3-1 all-time vs UNC. Fisher
is 0-2. 2015...Losing to 3-9 Ga Tech. Getting blown out of the bowl game vs a Group of 5 team.
Ain't no excuse for none of that.
We're not paying him 6 mil dollars to lose to teams we should trample.
If he's a good coach and is worth 6 mil he ain't gonna be losing to teams that have 2 elite
players on it (Ga Tech) or Louisville with 8 elite players and we have 60 on the team.
He's a great recruiter. That's great, but that is only great, when it transforms into
wins.
When it's 4th and goal at the one-yard line. I don't want a great recruiter who has a way
with words, I want a coach who has some answers
