I'm sure they'll win a lucky game against the Nets when D'Angelo is out for the night...

In triple overtime.

I have to say, you might be in a little trouble with this bet.

If the Pacers and Lakers were playing a 7 game series, I would bet on LA all day. But, the bet is which team will have the best record and their schedules are far from balanced. Indy gets 22 more games against Eastern conference foes.

IMO, the worst 4 teams are all in the East and 6 of the 8 best teams are in the West. That could be tough for the Lakers to overcome.

Realistically I think the Pacers win 35 and that is not going to be an easy number for the Lakers to get to. They can, but they will have to play very well.

Yep I said it on another thread. This bet won't be as easy as Shaqdaddy thinks. My guess is Cane win this bet by 1 or 2 games

If nothing comes of this, I don't have a problem with it...It's just good to see Pritchard finally taking a stand, where in past years our organization wouldn't have had the audacity to make headlines like this.
i would highly doubt anything will come of it--- but i also highly doubt he would file this without at least having some kind of basis to stand on. Itll just be a pain in the ass for the league to deal with --- the chances that the Lakers would be fined any picks or cash is extremely remote.

So which 3 people would be better off starring in the 3rd Dumber & Dumber movie: Jimmy Haslam, Dan Snyder & James Dolan or wiggy, lebron23james & hurricane?
lol

just as long as Ainge stars in some new horror film.....hes terrified of LeBron- so much so that he refuses to even try and challenge the Cavs.

someday though when LeBron either retires or leaves the Celts will have a chance--- till than....Danny will hoard his young players and draft picks- scared shitless of LeBron.

Is there ever a moment in any given day when you're not thinking about LeBron & hugging on his nuts? If you don't disappear again after the season tips off I can't wait to see you try to spin the Cavs trainwreck season in a positive light.

Two things have me confident in this bet:

Firstly, they improved in three starting positions: Center, SG and PG (Lopez over Mosgov, Caldwell-Pope over Swaggy P and Lonzo over D'Angelo). Brandon Ingram also is a lot more impressive than he was last season.

Secondly, after the All-Star break the Lakers were ACTIVELY tanking. Playing good for 3 quarters then giving it away in the end. They won't be doing that this year, especially if there's a chance Boston could get the pick.

Those two factors should give at least 10 more wins over the 27 win season they had last year. Add that to the fact some of their closer competitors have gotten weaker (Clippers Jazz) and I feel pretty good about this bet.

I don't want PG, he has no loyalty.

I know nothing will come of this.

But, I'm just glad Pritchard is taking a stand.

Good luck!

Like I said, the Lakers are definitively the superior team. That schedule imbalance makes it intersting though.

long term id rather have the Lakers I think--- but short term- just for this season? i mean- cmon. It has to be the Pacers.

I mean- Myles Turner is arguably the best young player on either team as well.

look at the 2 teams

Pg- Collison
SG- Oladipo
SF- Bogtrashovic or Glen Robinson III
PF- Thad Young
C- Myles Turner

Corey Joseph is one of the better backup PG in the game. --- Stephensen, Al Jeff,

vs.

Pg- Ball
SG- KCP
SF- Ingram
PF- Randle
C- Lopez

bench- Clarkson, Deng, Nance Jr. Zubac, Brewer.

LAkers def. have the better future, more cap space etc.....but JUST for this season?-- i mean- the Lakers defense is going to be atrocious unless Deng and Brewer really turn back the clock. Lopez moves like he has a chair strapped to his bag......Randle is one of the worst defensive PFs in the entire league... A rookie Pg backed up by Tyler Ennis?....the backup point guard is listed as Tyler Ennis....--- i am sure Ball will show flashes of brilliance- but also of inconsistency and its gonna be a while before he is even average defensively-- and Tyler Ennis is your teacher/backup? I mean--- no doubt i take the Lakers roster long term--- but for this year--- I gotta think the Pacers will be better. Its the one problem

Collison and Josep is a legit PG position with good depth. Oladipo is prob the best player RIGHT NOW on either team. Turner is def. the best big. Indianas SF position is trash--- but Ingram- while i thin he will take some steps this year- was positively awful last year.

Yeah, Pacers are playing in the LEASTern conference.

That gives them a few extra wins.

In all honesty, I don't think the Lakers growth will necessarily be measured in wins and losses.

Obviously, they won't go sub 30 wins.

But, I see them being in most games until the final minutes and then coughing some up down the stretch.

The Wolves had more talent last Season than the Lakers have this year.

But, they struggled way more than was anticipated in the Wild, Wild West.

Ps. Neither one of these Teams will suck as bad as Atlanta.

I agree with a lot of this.

But, I just don't like how Indiana's pieces fit. Turner will be very good. Oladipo is better than people think he is. There just isn't a lot of shooting on the team though. I think they will have a tough time generating high quality half court offense.

As for the Lakers? Ingram looked like a different player in his 1 summer league game. That usually means nothing, but in this case I am convinced he will take major steps forward. Ball will struggle at times, but he is also the type of player that breathes life into a franchise. KCP and Lopez were solid 1 year additions and will add 2-3 wins each.

I think win totals will be pretty similar, but I am taking the Lakers for today in a head to head matchup. Pacers have a legit shot at the playoffs though, where the Lakers would have to overachieve tremendously to get there in the West.

Lakers have waaaaaaaaaaay more upside.

Deng is really the only dead weight on that roster, unless you count Brewer?

But, somebody has to be the willy vet in the locker room teaching these guys how to be professionals.

Lopez can score, KCP can defend....

Ball will be solid. But, up and down a bit If you are expecting him to put up big scoring numbers. He won't.

If Randle and Ingram bring it every night, they will be in most games.

Indy......

It really depends on Olidipo stepping up and Lance staying in his lane.

They could get High 30 wins....I think that is their ceiling.

i dont think thats "obvious" at all...id pick them right around 31-32... 29 wins is certainly within that margin of error- esp. in the west that is loaded.
