In some states employers don't have to give a reason to terminate a employee. Basically the contract the union signed with the NFL gives him ( Goodell) similar power. So the NFL doesn't have to prove anything, it's up to the player to convince the NFL he's innocent of whatever the NFL feels he's done.

The only issue is that all Roger has to say is that this incident made the NFL look bad and suspend Zeke. If it is anything less than 6 games then that is the situation. Domestic abuse is 6 games min unless you are a Giants kicker. Anything less than that and you are being punished because Goodell is a tyrannical douche.
That's the slippery slope NFL should consider in their decision. If that's their justification it opens every player to financial threats.

Agree. It's a bad contract for the players. My point is contrary to popular demand I don't think Goodell wants to spend his days making the players that make him money look bad for no reason. If, and a big IF, Zeke is suspended I suspect that means Roger has something. If less than 6 games it likely means it isn't iron clad, but is something. I'm still hoping for no suspension, but who knows

I don't know if would call him "innocent". He is definitely guilty of stupidity. It's not like the league said "I think Elliot is the innocent guy we try to bury this year". Trouble seems to find this guy and he is the one to blame for that.
Did you read the texts from the "Victim" and her friend?

Exactly, doesn't this make the NFL look bad?

But I don't think he should be suspended for it..."it's not his fault he can't read"...
give me the movie

Doesn't insulate him from criticism or negative feedback.

Are we taking what Cris Carter says a little too seriously? I mean, just a thought guys.

I liked Carter as a player in Philly and Minnesota, but he is kind of dumb as a brick and known for half-assed opinions. He doesn't strike me as the guy the NFL would leak its secrets to.

I also wonder if the league office leaks things like this to test the PR waters. If they leak a suspension and no one cares, then hand it down. If it gets headlines then maybe they adjust.

Public out cry for Zeke will be far stronger for him than Brady. People wanted TB suspended for anything so they were cool with him getting tossed...IF Zeke gets suspended for anything without evidence, wholly shit storm coming. The league created this monster with Brady and has to live by it now.

Zeke should have played for the Giants, Mara would have not allowed this to happen....must be nice to be Rogers personal ball washer.

I doubt you see half the outcry that came about with TB suspension, Cowboy fans being excepted, obviously they won't like it. It's already been established that the NFL got the right ( power ) to do this. I do expect Pats fans to try to stoke the hate though.

Yes. But he still could avoid the trouble. He is young and stupid. Still plenty of time to figure it out, but lets not act like this guy is the pillar of common sense.

Avoids a Ray Rice type situation
I guess, but the league could have buried this long ago. "We found no wrong doing therefore the case is dismissed". This dude id young and dumb. Just like I was at 20 something. If Zeke had some kind of role model guiding him, this wouldn't even be an issue. That's my whole point.

League office apparently leaks details of looming Ezekiel Elliott suspension

League office apparently leaks details of looming Ezekiel Elliott suspension
Posted by Mike Florio on August 7, 2017, 11:57 AM EDT

Two years ago, someone at 345 Park Avenue leaked to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN the notion that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady had destroyed his cell phone in connection with the #Deflategate investigation. Within a day of the leak, Brady was suspended four games due in part to the allegation that he’d destroyed his cell phone.

Now, it seems like someone at 345 Park Avenue has leaked to Cris Carter of FS1 the notion that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is about to be suspended, with some eye-opening details.

Via Ryan Glasspiegel of TheBigLead.com, Carter said on FS1’s Undisputed that “in the next 48 hours I would be shocked if Zeke was not suspended.” Carter added that, “based on the information that’s going to come out, it’s going to be fairly easy to determine that something happened to this woman in her four days of being with Zeke.” (The specific allegation is that Elliott committed five acts of domestic violence in a six-day window.)

Carter described the situation as a case of “assault or domestic violence,” and Carter hinted that “when the information comes out there’s going to be some similarities” to Tom Brady’s suspension, including “information that he had been advised possibly to give up, that was destroyed.”

Carter ultimately suggested that Elliott’s banishment will be in the range of Brady’s four-game suspension. If this happens, it will contradict multiple proclamations from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones regarding the absence of any evidence of domestic violence.

That said, there’s no guarantee that Carter’s comments will be borne out by the eventual facts. He was careful to couch his terms in a way that would protect him from @OldTakesExposed, stopping short of reporting anything but merely sharing what he’s hearing. (Then again, Smith used similar tiptoe terms with Brady, prompting a negative reaction from him to our posts on the issue and generating some of our all-time favorite drops from his daily radio show, including “Mike Florio needs to grow the hell up” and “Would you please break a damn story?”)

If what Carter is hearing is accurate, it’s likely not a coincidence that someone from the league office saw fit to prime the pump by leaking startling information about Brady’s case in 2015 and now Elliott’s case to one of the weekday morning #EmbraceDebate shows. Getting inflammatory information into the public domain now makes it less stunning when the league issues its press release.

It’s nevertheless odd that the league office would see fit to hand such sensitive information regarding crime and punishment to a player who once urged rookies to arrange for a fall guy.

This is a load of shit. Impeach Roger Goodell?

I disagree 100%. Zeke created this, not the league. The league has its issues for sure, but Zeke is not innocent. I mean, we all saw him pull a stupid, drunk biotch's shirt down. Even if she was begging for it, it was bad judgement and just plain stupid of him to do it. Add that to all the other shit that surrounds this kid and you can clearly see Zeke created this mess with his bad decision making. Take responsibility for your stupidity. I know I had to.

I swear, this millennial entitlement bullshit drives me nuts.

I haven't, however sounds like she wanted to manufacture some collaboration to off set Zeke home boys testifying what happened didn't really happen. I really don't know. Guess we'll hear some details eventually.

Honestly I don't know if he touched her or not, but all the common sense in the world can't stop a pissed off ex from screwing you over.
Theres texts from her stating she's going to ruin him, and texts from her to her friend asking her friend to LIE to the police.
I doubt theres a jury in the world that would convict Elliott in this case. Well maybe if you were sitting on that jury is possible.
