If Cincinnati ever gets into a Power 5 conference, then there's going to be a few programs that are highly dependent upon Ohio recruits that are going to be hurting due to the Bearcats increased ability to keep kids from leaving the state of Ohio.
Certainly Pitt and West Virginia will be impacted, but even more so will be Michigan State and Kentucky. The Spartans would be screwed with a diminished Ohio recruit pipeline.

Sure, I'm still hoping we're able to join one. But at the same time, the main reason(s) I wanted us to join one is the first place IS for better athletes and upgraded facilities, which both are being taking care of right now.
Being a big fish in a small pond seems like our destiny for the time being and that's fine. Competing is our true goal, and we can compete with majority of programs. Especially in basketball. No one wants to see us in basketball now lol.
We're already dominating MSU this year:
And we're not really concerned about Kentucky. I think we've been to more BCS games than them in the last decade + lol.
