I think everyone's sense of timing is off. I'm a nerd, and watch the Bluray audio commentaries when they come out. The showrunners during one of the commentaries for the previous season basically stated that the timelines do not necessarily match each other. In other words, just because scene A (let's say a Dany scene) directly precedes scene B (a scene in Winterfell), doesn't mean that those scenes are happening at the same chronological time. They said they knew it had the potential to be confusing, but it was the only way they could work it without wasting a ton of time having boring travel scenes or just not having characters appear for super long stretches while they travel. I think they've done a pretty good job of it, though it is certainly not an easy follow.

It probably took him a good while, maybe a month? Probably the same amount of time for Grey Worm's fleet to reach Casterly Rock, Olenna to reach Highgarden from Dragonstone, and Bran to reach Winterfell from The Wall.
