There are some teams that need to make deals for a starting pitcher. If JD lets a couple of those teams get the jump on him by trading with another team then he will lose out on the biggest return for Yu. The more teams that are still in the market for a quality starting pitcher, when and if we do decide to trade him, the better. There are currently 93 hours and 26 minutes left before the deadline. I think some teams will want to not wait until the final hour or even the final couple of days to make a trade. It may be time to fish or cut bait.

In the three starts prior to being traded to the Rangers Cole Hamels had an ERA of 8.22.

I believe it has to at times. It is interesting that it happened to both Hamels and Yu and then they also both had postseason meltdowns with us last October. Maybe it is just a coincidence.

Look at all of our pitchers who have went backwards this year. Mendez, Sadzeck, Jurado, Martin, Speas and Palumbo. Palumbo I can excuse, but the rest are disturbing. Three of those guys were supposed to be ready by next year some time. Why can't this team develop starting pitching?

On the heels of Baseball America's midseason update, MLB.com offered its new prospect rankings. Here's the Texas top ten, with the preseason ranking in parentheses:

As expected, Taveras is deemed Texas's only top-100 MLB-wide prospect. He jumped up from 55th, while Yohander Mendez fell out of the ranking from 56th.

The reason we should see a slew of trades this weekend is not only because of the product on the field. Although it's painfully obvious that this team didn't " gel" or come together, the decision makers also need to take into account that the Astros will be largely intact next year. We need to accept that 2018 probably won't be an exciting year unless the team is somehow the " big winner" of the offseason. I think someone said that the Astros main guys don't become free agents until 2019 and 2020. Just restock, rebuild, and try to compete then.

Yeah, he has been a disappointment for awhile so I didn't even include him, Luke Jackson, or Nick Tepesch.

Unless he has been hurt for quite awhile before it was revealed then I really don't hold out too much hope for him any longer.
