Man. I watched the first set before work and I was thinking there's no way Rafa wins this match. Got to work and it was down 2-0 and I thought he was going to go down strait sets. Then it turns into an epic match. Can't wait to watch a replay. Didn't get a chance to read the comments here but the ones on ESPN were pathetic. Everything doesn't have to be Roger v Rafa. Rafa got caught sucked into a battle that nobody wants to get sucked into and he bled on the court trying to win. What else to people want from an athlete? Muller's obviously a trap match-up for anybody on grass and he brought it today. Hats off to Rafa for battling and being a participant in yet another epic match.

Mannarino doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell today. Nole is just rolling through.

the kid gave Djokovic a little bit of a battle in the second, but Novak up 2 sets to love.

Some long rallies in this one. Fun to watch. Mannarino is a bit of a pusher, moving Djokovic around the court nicely.

We've had roofers banging away on our roof this week and last so I haven't bothered trying to watch much.

But I've got my PVR set for the Men's quarters tonight and will maintain media blackout conditions till I view them.

Raonic vs Federer will be my focus. Go Roger..... No Nadal, Serby gimpy, get past Bigfoot and it's likely only Murray who could trip him up.

Better change that DVR. Men's Quarters is tomorrow. Women's Quarters is today

ESPN is calling it an upset based on the following less relevant facts:
1) Nadal is ranked #2 in the world
2) The poor lad just won a major on clay which somehow equates him to doing well on grass without any grasscourt warmup events
3) he has won the event in the past
4) it reads as " sensational news" if you used " Stunned" instead of "outslugged".

Instead of basing it on these:
1) Nadal's miserable record losing early to low ranked opponents in the last four years
2) Nadal's Zero grasscourt prep leading up to Wimbledon
3) the fact that Muller has beaten him before here at Wimbledon

Leave it to ESPN to keep proving how low their tennis IQ is.

Point is it was an upset

but he IS the #2 player in the world and the 4 seed in this tournament. He was beaten by someone with a lower ranking and seed. That is really all you need to meet the definition of "upset"

Now if you wanted to go the Vegas route and look at the odds, they were still in Nadal's favor. If you had bet against him knowing the facts, you would make some money in his loss, but he was still the favorite to win that match. Was he going to win the tournament? Not likely since we know his history on grass.

and that is why it would have been a good bet to say that Nadal was going to get knocked out of Wimbledon eventually and it would have been an upset at any round in which he was knocked out before the quarter finals.

Exactly it is common sense. I'm pretty sure Nadal was the favorite entering the match.

Not to mention the 1 victory Muller had was when Rafa was a teenager and had no serve or volley back then. It seems that most everyone is calling it an upset. We will leave it at that.
