It must have paid out....why else would the gambling site report him.
Because Las Vegas at least would report any possible issue to protect itself. I'm not sure about the gambling sites, but I'm guessing they will also protect themselves.

Antoine Walker gambled away $44,000,000 in Vegas and not word spoken.

It needs to stay the way it is. No tolerance.

With the contacts that football players have, there is way too much chance of insider information. And we all know that gambling can lead to some really dumb things. Calvin gets down $450K and needs to make it up, there isnt much stopping him from betting on the Falcons or against them.
I would have no problem them banning him for life honestly. If a player is so dumb as to why they have this rule in place, then they dont deserve to be in the league. It is as simple as it gets.

Save your betting till the day you retire. Then have at it.
I agree they should wait, but if they don't I see no value in punishing when you can't prove any sort of insider info. In this case where they open with nothing internal, and he was not even with the team?

I am just not for restricting 100% of something because the potential of abuse.

Was it in the sport he played? Technically what got Pete Rose in trouble wasn't his golf betting.

It sounds like the NFL worked with a betting site partnered with the NFL to uncover this.
So yes if Ridley used a partner site, they will report it to keep that partnership intact.

Not sure that's the same. That happened in '09 and his last season in the NBA was '07-'08. He was retired.

Ridley was an active player. And shouldn't be allowed to play in the NFL again. Can't be betting on NFL games when you're an active player.

They arent restricting 100% of gambling. They are restricting 100% of gambling on the sport they play.

If a guy wants to partake in Vegas, he has almost complete freedom to do it. Just not on football.

Plenty of things to gamble on if he really wants to.

He was retired when he went broke.

You know he was betting long before he retired.

I'm sure he was. But was he ever caught while in the league like Ridley was?
