The bowl system is nothing more than a way to milk more money out of a season that officially ends in November for 95% of the teams. It's a joke by design...a profitable joke that allows teams to practice for 3-4 more weeks (with an exhibition game at the end of that time), and allows fans to travel to watch their team play during the holiday season. (or just watch them play one more time on tv before the season is officially over)

Bowls need sponsors. Even the big time traditional bowls have the highest bidder attached to the name.

It's the thing with baseball fields and football stadiums. ....

I still call it Seahawk's Stadium although that was 3 names ago.

Yeah it's tacky as hell but I guess when someone's offering you a lot of money you'll do just about anything...

Not sure why I'm supposed to care what the hell the bowl game is named.

Although it would make for a nice Key & Peele sequel.

Doubt I’ll ever call safeco anything else. Can’t just change the name 20 years later.

It's amazing how these shit bowls can continue to find major sponsors for them. There is absolutley no ROI b/c these types of bowl games might have 20K in attendance and the TV ratings are always so piss poor.

No, I'm not. What was the name of that Frog company that sponsored a bowl that one time?

Its not a "traditional" bowl game but I would be happy to play in the Bahamas Bowl. Way better than playing in 20 degree weather at Yankee Stadium.

Fuck that noise

Give me one of these no name companies that sponsor these bowls that don't put their name in the title, and I will buy/use that product.

For instance keep it "The Arizona Bowl". no company name in the title, but then I don't care if you plaster that stadium with NOVA Home Loans advertisement and have a NOVA Home Loans ad every other commercial.

Just having the bowl name adds some sort of "prestige" feel to it. Like "The Arizona Bowl" What is that? Like a #4 MAC vs #5 MWC team? The bowl feels even more mid major when you plaster a long ridiculous advertisement in front of it, and since it seems the sponsor changes every 2 years you hardly feel any tradition toward that bowl.

It'll always be the FedEx Orange bowl.
It'll always be the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
It'll always be the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl

Yes the above list there has sponsors in the title, but those were sponsors for a long, long time and they were synonymous with the bowls they sponsored. AND they weren't some no name companies no one has ever heard of.

Yeah, but I can still remember when those 3 bowls didn't have a preamble to their name. They were just the Orange Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl & the Holiday Bowl.

Damn.......Sorry man.
Yeah, at least Alaska just got the rights to our field and not the stadium, and isn’t Walmart... that’s rough.
