Even when I lived in L.A. for a year, I can't recall seeing deep dish pizza. Mind you, I don't remember too many good eats in L.A.

No good eats in LA? Man, you must have been trying hard to avoid it.
Simple things like an In n Out burger, fast Mexican at Poquito Mas... So yummy, so fresh. The salads and sourdough bread at Union Grill (I think that's the name - right across the street from Beverly Center ). That's all without going upscale... Don't get me started on Nobu. Damn, now I am hungry. Good pizza was hard to find down there though.
I find it frustrating that I can't seem to find a regularly good salad up here.

salad's one of those funny things. you only miss it when you can't get a good one.
to balance things out, I am quite upset that our Morton's has closed down.

If you're looking for a good pizza in Detroit, it's on the east side in the City of East Pointe, Cloverleaf Pizza. Competes with any pizza I've had, including in Chicago.

They make everything from scratch, including the sauce.

If you like it, their Egg Plant Parmesan is the best I have ever had, bar none....the sauce..
