Would you take any duo over prime MJ and LeBron?

My guys aren't shooting jumpers, they are driving to the rim where your centers will have to leave open shooters to help.

Meanwhile, post play is one of the least efficient forms of offense. Most often, it ends with a highly contested shot attempt. While closer, close is not better than open.

There is a reason all the best teams today play pace and space and why bigs are used as screeners instead of post scorers.
Because nobody has bothered to learn a post game any more. Because you dont get on highlight reels by playing sound basketball.

Tim Duncan, Kevin McHale, Kareem, Olajuwon were not what one would call "low percentage scorers"

MJ and LeBron are the two greatest players ever so it would be unfair to put them together against ANY other duo in the history of duo's. Case closed.

I can roll out of bed and name 10 guys better than LeBron James.

Good for you, but I doubt it.

The game today is
You would take 2 centers?

That would work great 30 years ago. Not anymore. If your two best players are post scorers, you are going to have a tough time getting offensive floor spacing. On D, Wilt and Kareem would get attacked relentlessly on ball screens and having to guard in space.

Size mismatches are much easier to defend than speed/skill mismatches. It is far easier to double effectively on the block than it is to help a center trying to guard a perimeter player.
30 years ago the game was at it's peak. Todays game is extremely flawed compared to players who could play defense and actually pass the ball.

Completely incorrect.

Every single professional field in the world advances over time as people learn more. Basketball is no different.

Post game isn't used because it is proven to be inefficient. That is why bigs today don't develop post moves as much. Also, illegal defense rules from the 80s made it far more difficult for defense to help the post than it is today.

Those players you mentioned were all great. If left 1 on 1 on the block they will score almost every time. But, guess what? If you leave MJ or LeBron 1 on 1 on the wing with no help, they will score just as often.

The difference is that under normal basketball rules, it is MUCH easier to provide help without giving up opportunities elsewhere on a post up than it is on a dribble drive. That is the reason post play is dying. Offenses initiated trough the low post aren't nearly as efficient as guard dominated pace and space offenses.

Can you list those 10 players that are better than Lebron?

Jordan, Magic, Bird, Russell, Kareem, Duncan, Kobe are the layups.

The merits of Oscar, Olajuwon, Wilt and Shaq are strong debates.

The only "layup" in there is MJ.

Magic and Kareem are very debatebale. I take LeBron, but its close.

You have some great players listed, but they just aren't on LeBron's level. Saying Bill Russell is better than LeBron is absolutely ludicrous.
