Yeah that prediction makes sense. I honestly don't think it would be even close and here is why..

Russ Smith, A naismith award finalist, 2013/14 1st team all American who was the star and top player off Louisville's national championship team... 2nd best scorer in the Big East 2 years ago

Sean Kilpatrick, Naismith semifinalist, 2nd team all american for Cincy. TOP scorer in the big East 2 years ago.

joined by the #4 scoring player in the SEC from that year, Jordan McRae. The guy with 24 points in the sweet 16 game that almost knocked Michigan off.

And #1 scorer from the Big 12 that year in Juwan Staten...

And Ty Greene, another 20 a game college guy.

And David Laury, the MAAC player of the year.

And Rick Jackson, a 13-10 starter for Syracuse a few years ago.

That's the 76ers D league affiliate, the Delaware 87ers.... The guys that aren't even good enough to be one of the guys on the 76ers roster.

How does Villanova deal with a team who's 20th man is the best player on a more dominant national title team?

The 2009-2010 Kentucky team is the best bet to beat an NBA squad. Here was their team:

John Wall
Eric Bledsoe
Darius Miller
Patrick Patterson
DeMarcus Cousins

With Josh Harrellson and Daniel Orton off the bench.
Some of those 80s UNC teams were much better.

Yeah, even the 76ers should be able to beat the best college team.

Why do people think the worst nba team is that much better than the best college team...the best college team may have a superstar or two who's better than the any of the scrubs on the worst nba team....it could actually be closer than people think.....

The only college team that would have made this interesting was the 91 UNLV squad.

This would be a good idea if you made them play a D-league team IN the D-league. They do this overseas......the teams like Philly that are steady losers get demoted to the D League and have to win their way back to the pro league.

Except that Villanova's best player likely isn't even good enough to play in the NBA. The 6ers scrubs would be Villanova's best player.

Villanova has great chemistry and they would play a lot harder than the NBA team. For that reason they might be able to keep it close. If the 6ers were focused and incentivized to win though, they would handle Nova quite easily.

Why do people keep bringing this up? They have completely different league structures. There is a 0% chance any of the big professional leagues in the US ever use a relegation model. Owners would never willingly allow their own team to go to the chopping block. Since the Owens would need to approve something like this, it will never happen.

Simply put...talent and depth. The very best college teams will have maybe 3 or at the most 4 guys who will even get a proverbial "cup of coffee" in the NBA and maybe 1 of those guys will actually be an impact player. Everyone else will be making their living doing something other than playing basketball.

On even the worst NBA teams, every one of those guys is good enough to at least be on an NBA roster. So, even if the college teams has a couple of guys who are good enough to be impact players and those p-layers have huge games, once they start playing reserves, the difference in talent will take over and make the difference.

What could possibly work though, would be a college all-star team that was given 2-3 weeks or so to practice together before the game. A team like that might have a decent shot.

Never said it would happen, I just said it would be better than watching college kids get destroyed.

The relegation model works. Its probably not feasible in America, because team owners are too greedy to ever allow something like that to happen.

I remember when Luke Walton came to the gym we were balling at. A lot of people were talking smack, saying he's weak because he's a bench player.

Next thing you know, Luke was killing everybody like he was Larry Bird. They were all shocked.

Shocked that a highly skilled NBA player would dominate a pick up game with a bunch of average joes? Really?

I always thought Luke was pretty underrated/under appreciated. He could play, he just wasn't flashy or real athletic. High basketball iq, always made the right play. There was a reason Phil always wanted him on those Lakers teams.

I would give the exhibition game a try with one caveat: the NBA team plays without a 3pt line. That might make it slightly interesting.

Uh, yes! They are no different than the ones who think the best college team could beat the worst nba team.

tourney champion...

It would prevent tanking out of embarrassment and i bet it would draw a huge audience and tv ratings

villanova vs Philly would be the matchup this year...who wins

This is a joke right? Well you have posted some crazy stuff in the past so ya never know. Although to answer your question the 76ers would crush the Wildcats.

Silly talk. Maybe the College All American team with 2 months of practice might have a chance. Of course with two years of practice and games that college All American team would win the NBA championship. Taking it a step down, Connecticut Women could not beat an average high school boys team, even if they played with the girls ball. And don't me give execution, the shot trajectory would change dramatically.

Because as I showed there, the 76ers D league team would have more talent and depth than Villanova.

And the relegation model only works if you don't care one bit about any sort of parity. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U, Man C. Every championship team from the past 20 years right there, and those 5 teams make up their top 4 teams in that time 93% of the time. Teams around over 100 years with a single top 3 finish. Teams folding, combining.. 90% of the league value in 10% of the teams.
