They wont let LeBron wear it. They wont let anyone. Kobe and Kyrie Irving weren't allowed to either.

What a crock!

As long as it is a team color it should be allowed, also pink for cancer awareness and green for pot legalization.

What a bunch of crap. First of all, Lebron's mask looked much better than those clear ones. Second, there was nothing controversial or offensive about it and it wasn't promoting anything. Let him wear the black mask.

Besides, since when is covering up Lebron's ugly mug a bad thing?

Agreed. It makes absolutely no sense to ban the use of black masks when you allow clear ones. It even correlates with Miami's team colors. I don't get it.

Lol at all the bitching over this. I read Adam Silver said it was to present the defender from not being able to see his eyes. Get a new mask, not that big a deal

Shit ain't a fashion show. Wear a clear mask like everyone else has to. Richard Hamilton wore a clear mask for 5 years.

I say it shouldn't matter. He is going to torch whoever guards him anyway. Maybe it is an intimidation thing?

Since no one seems to have stated the obvious, I will say it. It appears to me that the NBA don't want the black athletes individualizing the masks to match them by being black. That is common among most african americans - I have seen black hearing aids made specifically for african americans and their is absolutely nothing wrong with that, so please don't accuse of saying it is. In addition, however one thing I had not thought of before - the NBA wants the masks to be clear so the refs can see the expressions on the faces of the athletes. It helps them to see and hear the communications slightly better when conflict rises. Hiding behind a mask that the refs cannot see what is being said from a distance, would make it harder to determine for example if Lebron said something to start a confrontation. Most of you seems to think that this is about Lebron James(as usual) but it's about uniformity and consistency. If wearing black masks is something that the PLAYERS WANT, then they need to address it in the next cba discussions
