Why are many so quick to assume that Boogie is gone from Golden State after the season?

Sure I'm just making the claim that he will get many offers from desperate teams. Like the Lakers (sorry but they are all messed up after this rough year)

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what the Lakers do.

I think they're top priorities are obviously, signing a top FA and/or trading for AD.

If neither of those pan out. They still aren't out of options.

I could see them looking to sign a couple of 2nd tier types for less than max deals and hoping that the combination of playing alongside Lebron and KD leaving the Warriors (if he does), is enough to put them in the mix in the West.

I could see them taking a flyer with Boogie too, but would hope that they didn't give him a max unless they feel he is all the way back or very close it.

I could also see them doing more of the 1 year type deals to hold their cap space for 1 more season if they don't feel like they can get the help they need to truly compete.

After his latest setback, I think it's safe to assume that he'd absolutely take the Warriors' $6.4 million offer for one year if it was offered...

This is correct, that now has a huge chance of happening. But there's a lot of detail still to come, like how long he's out, etc. Some team that is desperate (cough Lakers cough) might still offer him like 1 year $10 mil or something

Tough break, he was working hard trying to keep it together and get back. He wasn't t-ed up that much this year, he toned that stuff down (still makes a lot of faces)

It’s not like the W’s are really that much better with him tbh

I've come to think that he's useful in the right matchups. Vs some teams he's a liability, but vs many he is a solid piece.

Comes down to whether he wants more money or a chance at a ring

What if he gets a ring this year?

Might feel a little hollow but sure.

Provided he is healthy from the quad injury I find it hard to believe someone wouldnt top one year 6 mil

By a lot.

Don't think he is getting a long term max, but he showed enough on the court that he should get should term offers 3-4 times what the Warriors can pay.

Yep. Which is why I'm not coming back this season if I'm boogie to possibly risk a more serious injury. He needs to be smart.

So, in retrospect given his current injury, is it safe to say the Boogie experiment failed? This injury leaves them with cap space tied up in a player that can't contribute. That's not to say it wasn't worth the risk, of course...

Um, no not much cap space. And he did help them win games overall.

More than McGee could've? And still been available now, and retainable in the future?
Yes he made less than McGee and played better than McGee. I stand by my answer

McGee: $2.394M
Cousins: $5.337M
Oops.

Still, I don't believe the experiment failed. They gave the guy very little and added some talent. Why wouldn't they? He brought more than McGee can and earned his small money

Sure, but everything about the Warriors is about success in the playoffs. This untimely injury leaves them weaker than they would've been without him.

Not really, but only because they got Bogut very late in the year.

Obviously they would prefer he didn't get injured. But there are no regrets. It was a very good signing.

Cousins is finished as an impact player. Dude should’ve wised up and taken that offer by the Pelicans. What was it..... $40m over two seasons? Now he’ll be lucky to sniff that IMO.

And btw... I don’t get his logic. Dude took a one season deal at $5m in the hopes that he’d perform, win a title and get a max afterwards from some team, right? I know they slightly vary in scale but let’s say he got his max and the first season of it got him $30m.... combined with his pay cut in GS that’s $35 over a two year period, not to mention those brutal California taxes.

So why not take $40m over two years and THEN try to prove you’re worth a max? Instead he went for about $35m over a two year period (with higher tax rates) and he won’t even be getting that $30m because no one will max his ass out now. Now he’ll be about $20m-$30m poorer over that two year window (give or take depending on what his next contract is). Dude screwed up bigly.

bad advice from his agent no doubt

it really surprises me how much money some agents costs their players
